I had my ACL reconstruction almost 9 years ago. I just started feeling the numbness of the outside of the leg below the knee. Haven't asked the doctor. I would be certain that no one can help, maybe some pain medication could easy the numbness/pain. For sure the nerve had been damaged.
If anyone owns any remedies, please share that.
I am almost two years out from ACL cadaver graft reconstruction. My recovery and rehab was excellent and I have full range of motion. However, the front of my shin from knee to 3/4 of the way down remains completely numb to touch, and I've started to experience that searing nerve pain upon kneeling the past few months. I had a vertical medial incision and I think the culprit is a damaged infrapatellar branch of the saphenous nerve that is triggered when pressure is applied to the front of my knee. I read elsewhere that a lateral incision is more difficult for the surgeon but bypasses this branch of the saphenous nerve.
Hi Daniel,
I had my ACL Surgery 5 month back, even I feel the numbness below the knee part, there will be burning sensation and gradually it will slow down there is nothing serious to worry about.
My suggestion do physio regularly and icing is must on your knee.
Regards
Arvind

Hey up, I had a reconstruction too about 9 days ago and I'm the same, it was on my right knee and my shin is very swollen and numb and the inside of my right ankle is numb too so nothing to worry about, and I sometimes get shooting pains too but it's not that bad it's manageable I'm off my meds now too and I'm not getting too much pain.
If you had a nerve blocker the numbness may never go away .mine has been numb for 2 years but no problems if you don't see a problem . Just be glad your knee is good.
I also had ACL/Meniscus surgery over two years ago in March. While I have regained some feeling in my leg, I still have a rather large area of numbness. Basically the full anterior shin split. I was told it should go back to normal, but I highly doubt it now. I still can't shave the area, because it's too sensitive.
Has it gotten any better for you?
