I am 16.I have got acne due to hormone disorder. I’ve been taking cortisone shots for acne for some time. I am not even sure what cortisone is, I haven’t used cortisone since now. But when I talked to my school friends they all knew about it. I would like to know more about this drug.
Cortisone is a steroid that reduces swelling and decreases the body’s immune response. It is used for various conditions among which are hormonal disorders, but before you start with cortisone make sure that you don’t have any bacterial, viral or fungal infection because Cortisone weakens your body’s immune system. I hope your doctor is aware of your medical history, just in case that you had some serious disease. Possible side effects are: an allergic reaction, increased blood pressure, sudden weight gain, insomnia, nausea….I can’t tell you if Cortisone shots will solve your acne, but just in case, you should talk to pharmacist and find other solutions. What does your friends say about their experience? Consult with them too. Take care.
What is in the cortisone shot for acne? I've heard that they mix Kenalog and Cortisone together in a sterile diluent. Anyone knows more about this? If so, can you help?
