I started eating drywall at age 12/13 (im turning 17 very soon) I really cant help it i love the smell, the taste just everything however this has huge arguments between me and my mum as she has found holes in the walls on 4 separate occasions and absolutely HATES it we have serious heated arguments about it, but I cant tell her the real reason so it is what it is i guess

I am in your shoes. I see my comment here I made a few years ago and I am now 20 years old and still hung on drywall. My stepdad found another hole I made and I ended up fixing it. Ive been doing this since I was 12. My mom and I always fight about it and it sucks bc she’ll never understand why. I hope you are okay and if you are eating drywall dont swallow just chew it and spit it out. I was happy I got to fix the wall bc i got to keep the chunks that I cut out and they just smell soooo amaze.

So I can make coffee with the black and white gypsum in this substrate I over watered. Garden grade vs food grade is what I searched.

I am turning 17 this year and I’ve been eating drywall for a long time now ever since I was a little kid. I try to stop but I just can’t. I always try my best to hold back but I always have the urge to do it. There are parts in my house where the drywall has been peeled off. It’s because of me. My parents have been trying to figure out who’s been doing it but I always say that it’s not me. My whole family knew that I ate drywall as a kid, but since I’m older now they probably think that I don’t do it anymore.

This has been so relieving for me to read. I have been eating drywall on and off for at least 10 years. I have tried to stop but I can’t. I get stressed sometimes and anxious and I eat it to cope. It tastes so good and I have even began grinding up small chunks into a fine powder and snorting it. I hide it from my boyfriend because I am ashamed and embarrassed. I love it though but wish I could stop. I look up different websites that say it has toxins and causes cancer but I feel fine and have not had any health problems per my doctor visits. Other websites say eating it is fine but my cause stomach issues. I have gotten so obsessed that at work when I get stressed I eat it. I have made a dinner plate sized hole in a back room and I fear I’m going to get fired if I get caught. I don’t know what to do… because it’s the starch I crave , I know this cause I eat baby powder as well

Hi, guys.

For all of you, it is important to identify and avoid any triggers that may be causing you to eat drywall, such as stress, boredom, or anxiety. It is important to practice healthy coping skills, such as deep breathing, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques, to help manage your urges.

Eating drywall can lead to an upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and possibly intestinal blockage. It can also cause an electrolyte imbalance, dehydration, and an increased risk of infection due to the presence of bacteria, mold, and other contaminants. Ingesting large amounts of drywall can be toxic and may even lead to death, so be careful.

Can you tell us why did you start eating drywall?

I began at a young age. Maybe around 10. I am 23 now. I do have GERD which may or may not be related . My dad took me to work to construction sites and I started with rocks or chalky substances. I don’t believe I’m addicted since I only do it once in a while. But my mouth does water thinking of it. I also do dirt, small rocks, & drywall.
