I started eating drywall at age 12/13 (im turning 17 very soon) I really cant help it i love the smell, the taste just everything however this has huge arguments between me and my mum as she has found holes in the walls on 4 separate occasions and absolutely HATES it we have serious heated arguments about it, but I cant tell her the real reason so it is what it is i guess
it started off by eating cornstarch. then i started picking at my wall and was eating the drywall. but i’ve been trying to quit. some things that help me is anytime i crave it i eat crushed ice or drink water.

This has been so relieving for me to read. I have been eating drywall on and off for at least 10 years. I have tried to stop but I can’t. I get stressed sometimes and anxious and I eat it to cope. It tastes so good and I have even began grinding up small chunks into a fine powder and snorting it. I hide it from my boyfriend because I am ashamed and embarrassed. I love it though but wish I could stop. I look up different websites that say it has toxins and causes cancer but I feel fine and have not had any health problems per my doctor visits. Other websites say eating it is fine but my cause stomach issues. I have gotten so obsessed that at work when I get stressed I eat it. I have made a dinner plate sized hole in a back room and I fear I’m going to get fired if I get caught. I don’t know what to do… because it’s the starch I crave , I know this cause I eat baby powder as well
Hi, guys.
For all of you, it is important to identify and avoid any triggers that may be causing you to eat drywall, such as stress, boredom, or anxiety. It is important to practice healthy coping skills, such as deep breathing, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques, to help manage your urges.
Eating drywall can lead to an upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and possibly intestinal blockage. It can also cause an electrolyte imbalance, dehydration, and an increased risk of infection due to the presence of bacteria, mold, and other contaminants. Ingesting large amounts of drywall can be toxic and may even lead to death, so be careful.
Can you tell us why did you start eating drywall?
