I do this too. I usually scratch the dandruff off and collect it in the plastic bag. I also use a tooth pick to get the dandruff out of my nails and into he bag. Sometimes in class when im going thru my hair, i find a peice of hard dandruff and i just cant help myself from getting it out and collecting it. Its wierd.

Omgosh... I am upsests with scratching my head and looking and feeling the flakes. I am really concerned about it because i am not certain if it is a dry scalp or dandruf. My mom doesn't think its anything serious and doesn't care. But i am worried it is fungas or bacteria. Sigh, i wish my mom cared more. She starting to act like my dad. Lol

Don't worry about dandruff, its only dead skin cells. there are many shampoos on the market that are good, Selsun blue is well regarded. Listerine mouthwash works too (original) I wouldn't let dandruff bother you, like many others on here I like to create dandruff "snow showers" As I write this my laptop is covered in flakes.

I just love having dandruff and the head scabs that come with it. I have just dragged my fingernail through my scalp and cut off a scab, pure bliss!

Hey it's anonymous, I kinda forgot my password so I had to make a new account... My problems still the same but I've stopped picking my face. I found a simple way to make it hard to pick my head; cut my nails short!! It works, trust me. But I have another problem that isn't related to any of this. Please don't think I'm a horrible person for saying the things I'm going to say. At school there's a girl in my class. I don't really like her. She's unpopular and wierd. I'm not kidding. I'm not a bully it's my opinion. But she's copying everything I do. Your probly thinking, take it as a compliment! She wants to be like you. But it's creepy. Today in p.e. I had my hair in a plait and she put hers in a plait. She was talking to my friend on Facebook, (my friend wants to be nice) and she said that she was doing a 'Mimik Georgia' e.g. Copying me. On the trip we,re going on soon she put me as her roomie. She thinks I'm her best friend. Also I don't wear the school jumpers, and at one point she stopped wearing them, what should I do? It's creeping me out. Oh and I got a fringe and now she's got one, and I usually straighten my hair, so she straightened hers.. I'm not a bully it's just creepy. :(

To the above, why not just say to her you are flattered that she likes to style herself in the same way as yourself but would rather her find her own style, get a fashion magazine and sit down with her and look through the magazine, you could say it would be good to experiment with different style...

hello , i am an addict too to this horrible habit , that while doing it i feel happy when i see white flakes and at the same time i feel sick to my stomach because it just doesn't feel right . In fact, i feel disguasted from myself and feel like i am an animal who doesn't have control over himself ..... i can go on and on with writting about my guilt feelings but it is high time that i took things under control . It's obviously that this act is an expression for surpressed bad energy , something else that has been bothering me and i didn't know how to deal with it , like any other form of addiction .

That's why i think that the solution goes beyond useing shampoos and getting rid of dandruff , it's about seeing the dandruff and not feeling the urge of scrutching it , it's about taking things under control and being the boss of oneselve.

i just want to stop blaming myself over and over again and not waste my time in such stupid , ugly and sensless habit

Don't beat yourself up over dandruff, just enjoy them for what they are. I picked my scalp today and got one of the best pieces of dried scab with a hear shaft right through it. There is nothing like the noise of scratching it away and the acute pain that goes with it.

Me too... I thought I was the only one who does that in this whole world, but thank goodness I'm not alone... I'm 13 and I've been doing this bad habit since last year. My parents always scolds me when I try to do that, but I just can't stop it. Cause whenever I tried to stop, I will feel some slight itchiness on my head, maybe because I'm addicted. I hope I can stop, cause I don't want people to see me doing this thing in front of them, they would think I have fleas and don't want to be near with me. :$

Dandruff is ace!! I am a chef at a top restaurant and often shake my dandruff into desserts. My customers rave about how nice they are.. if only they knew that they were eating my dandruff flakes on their chocolate desserts or sticky pudding!

18 year old female mixed race! I don't remember when I started scratching but I just can't help myself from doing it. I have bad dandruff and really long dark thick straight hair so it's super obvious when I'm scratching and picking the dandruff out. I didn't really realize how odd it was till I was on the subway doing it and realized people were stairing, I'm not OCD but I believe I have some sort of anxiety that hasn't been diagnosed with depression. It just feels good picking it out, I don't have a shampoo that helps nizerol works but it stops after a while (like most shampoos). I don't think it's an addiction I just like doing it? I might tell my doctor but I'm worried she'll just prescribe some anti-anxiety meds that will fog the hell out of my brain. I don't eat it or collect it, it just feels good seeing it on my pants / the floor or whatever, it annoys the hell out of my mom and she try's to pick it out and that makes me livid when she touches my hair. I'll look into the lysterene dandruff wash!

Hey AnonaMOUSE here!

I don't know why but my heads kinda stinging and itching right now, like it's being bit.

And no it's not nits cause I checked with a nit comb.

I think it might just be because I'm hair sore and my dad accidentily pulled my hair before..
