My question is the emotional state of my child 0n conserta is horrible. He is behaving in class now and the grades were good at first but are suddenly beginning to drop. He is very angry one minate and the next he is sad and crying. Should I take him off the drug, increase the dosage, or is this something I have to deal with. :'( :'(
Unfortunately, such behavior of your child is something you have to deal with, the frequent mood swings are the consequence of taking Concerta and is listed in its side effects. What you certainly must not do is take him off the drug, this is what doctors are for, they should change the dosage if necessary, so what you should do is go see your son’s doc and explain what is happening to him, he would understand this and will certainly help you.
Beside Concerta, there are some other drugs for the same purpose, I think Concerta is the strongest among them, but you can ask your doctor if your son can switch the therapy and take Aderall or Ritalin.
These two medications are of the similar structure but depends on the patients how they accept them, some find one better than the other and vice versa.
But remember not to do anything on your own, that’s what specialists are for!!!!
