Is there an agent orange cancer link? My father is a Vietnam veteran and he was diagnosed with lung cancer. I guess that all those talk about the war finally got to him; he said that he never really left those jungles, and that it was only a matter of time when the jungle would embrace him again. I have heard about that Agent Orange and hat it has been used a lot in the war. Can you tell me anything about it?
Agent Orange that was a substance US Army used a lot to burn down the leaves from the jungle trees that were surrounding US military camps. It was done by the airplanes, helicopters, sometimes even sprayed by soldiers on foot. I guess that soldiers that worked on the loading of those planes and helicopters, were exposed the most. This was done continuously from 1962 to 1972 and was called operation Ranch Hand. Almost 19 million gallons of herbicide was spread on the area of 3.6 million acres in both Vietnam and Laos. There were always speculations about increased cancer risk in US soldiers who were close to this substance and that discussion goes on even today.
