I thought I was CRAZY. It was horrible. I have used Scott for years and never ever had anything like this happen to me. I suffered exactly the same symptoms. I did not figure it out til October, but it started sometime during the summer. I have had a similar problem with Suave Shampoos but that caused a yeast infection, THIS IS NOT a yeast infection. I took unnecessary medication and no relief. I changed everything I could think of til it hit me in the middle of the night the freekin' toilet paper. I wonder what the hell they put in there. Thanks for sharing, I know how you feel.
Costco is great! Cottonelle made my vagina burn so bad. I found out they use Chlorine to make it white. A lot of the toilet paper companies also use formaldahyde (spelling?) and other chemicals as whitening and preservative agents. I am 50 years old and never had this problem before and suddenly developed it. I though I was crazy. Changed to the Kirkland Costco brand and 1/2 roll in my bottom was better and I am never going back again. I had used Charmin before but I was itching with that one and now I know why.
It has become apparent to my nurse and Me that I am allergic to a specific brand of loo roll I've had checks for infection and nothing showed but by God it's sore I narrowed it down by just carrying a 'safe' brand with me stopped using the work type and when all was good I tried the rogue one couldn't believe how I reacted and took a week of tomorrow and warm baths to clear it again I've asked round and it seems quite common my nurse said it's usually aloe Vera but not for me..
I have an allergy to the bleach in toilet paper and it is so annoying. Mostly Cotonelle and alot of hotels use that brand. I have also heard that Scott is common for bleach allergies.
Same thing happened to me! Went to the doctors she said I was burned from it. Stopped using ANGEL SOFT and now I'm fine. It even burned the inside of my nose too!
Absoulutely!! I am extremely sensitive to the bleach. I am trying to find the best tissue as I am scared to try alot of the ones I used to purchase.
I have been having the same issues. I have been going to the doctor regularly because they say its a yeast infection .. when i use the regular scott.. no problems.. when i use the soft.. oh the imflamation and pain.. ughhh
I was diagnosed with being allergic to Cottonelle toilet paper. the rougher and cheaper the paper the worse it is. You may receive an infection due to the irritated vaginal skin tissues. I was told to wipe with alcohol and fragrance free wipes first and afterwards wipe the irritated area with Tucks. (which are made of witch hazel) Tucks if you read the container it does specify it's use for anal or vaginal irritation. Not just hemorrhoids) He also prescribed a cream made of nystatin and triamcinolone Acetonide. It WORKED!! ( I was a bit concerned that the pharmacy (CVS) I chose only had this cream with perfume as an ingredient. I used it anyway at the doctors request However, I did find the same cream made by a company named TARO who did not have perfume as an ingredient at WALGREENS pharmacy) I the used a mirror and monitored the redness slowly disappear and the irritating pain. It is so much better. I will continue this witch hazel wipe and moist wipes forever. The bleaching agent in these toilet papers is what causes the allergic reaction for some us. I read the discounted papers are the worst. Charmin? Not too many problems that I can remember... BUT! COTTONELLE AND SCOTT??? RUNNNN!!!! I hope I can help someone.. Anyone. LOL
I recently found a study that seems to prove that it is the formaldehyde along with other chemicals that causes the irritations and allergies with some toilet papers. I use Charmin at home, but when I go places, I am miserable. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2860827/
Dump the m***n doctor!!! He obviously knows nothing about women or their sensitive skin!
