I have the same problem with the Kirkland Brand of bathroom tissue. We also have used it for a long time, but I do think they have some chemicals or something that has changed. I am going to another brand to see if there's a change.

Purex must have changed it's ingredients last summer, because both my Mom and I can no longer use it. Feels like a yeast infection but it's not. Change brand and it goes away.

Oh yes there is too! The bleach used in toilet paper is an irritant to most people.

Absolutely it is possible to be allergic to the ingredients in toilet paper. The same thing happens to me when I use Scott. The doctors have treated me for yeast and it doesn't work. Use baby wipes and look for toilet paper hasn't been treated with formaldehyde or chlorine bleach.

If you've ruled everything else, consider a woman's clinic that can rule out Interstitial Cystitis. Symptoms vary and many doctors don't know what it is.

I'm so sorry to hear when anyone has a yeast infection or allergic to something in their genitals cuz it is a horrible feeling.  But thank goodness I am not the only one that is probably either allergic to Scott tube free tissue or a yeast infection after using it.  We used Charmin for so long and I never had any problems.  I haven't had a yeast infection or anything else wrong with my vagina in over 20 years until now.  And now that I think about it, I started getting the same symptoms about 4 days after using it.

If anyone else out there has had this same problem it would be so helpful to know if you went to the doctor to confirm this toilet paper was the cause of this.  I don't have insurance and can't afford to go to the doctor right now.  A $13 trip to the drugstore for some Monistat is a heck of a lot cheaper than having to go to a hospital where they can bill you but you still have to pay that huge hospital bill later.

Thanks!

Every time I use a very popular bath tissue, it causes the same symptoms as a yeast infection. I stop using it, and go to something else and the problem stopped. I tried this 3 times to be sure.

I recently discovered the use of fiberglass in some toilet papers. This was the cause of itching I had. Stay away from Costco Kirkland toilet paper.

It turns out this problem has been discussed in the medical literature:

"Chronic vulvar irritation: could toilet paper be the culprit?"
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2860827/

Unfortunately, toilet paper manufacturers would not cooperate in helping to identify the problematic substance, claiming the materials they use comprise a trade secret. The authors rule out chlorine, as it is a dissolved gas that likely disperses. Their hypothetical culprit is formaldehyde.

Your answer sounded unknowledgeable. A woman knows the difference between a yeast infection itch and a skin (vulvar) itch. We ain't crazy. And NO, you cannot get a yeast infection from a toilet seat. I don't know about you, but most women's vaginas never touch a toilet, to even suggest such is a nasty thought. Toilet paper is the culprit. Change brands. Try a brand with less chemicals for softness, fragrance, & absorbancy. In other words, go cheap!

cortisone cream, over the counter, wash the area daily and gently and dry yourself with a towel washed in hyper allergenic detergent and do use hypoallergenic, dye free, perfume free laundry products ...apply the cortisone cream lightly as often as needed. I read elsewhere that folks are using Tucks wipes, which contains witch hazel and found relief, find a different toilet paper!

I just realized it must be the Scott Tube Free TP that's giving me dry, red skin. I also used to use Charmin and didn't have any issues. This stinks because I love the tube free, but it's not worth the skin irritation.
I haven't been to the doctor about it, but since nothing else has changed -- it's the TP.
