Hello people!
I have this constant fear and i am somehow ashamed and also afraid to express it at home and with friends. One reason is I know what the answer would be...
My father died because of colon cancer last year. He never felt no pain and few months after he was diagnosed, he died. I am 15 years old and I am afraid I have colon cancer. Am I too young to get it?
Hey there!
Statistically looking, YES, you are too young to get it. But, be careful! Non/hereditary colon cancer rarely develops before age 40. But your case is hereditary!!!!! Families with “cancer gene”, surveillance for polyps (cancer develops from polyps) should begin at age 10 or 12!!!! But, polyps ARE NOT CANCER! I believe your worry is not unnecessary. I think, that if you feel you need to see doctor and talk to somebody, talk to them... And one thing- they will probably send you off with the thought you are too young (as you already said), but be reluctant and demand from doctors they do some tests!!!
