It's a bit late now, but maybe someone will find this useful. I attended a Job Corps center (what a mistake that was.) where they handed out Trazedone like candy. It was absolutely insane how many students had the stuff. Many of my former peers were anxious or depressed but found Trazedone wasn't the miracle drug it was hyped up to be and it actually worsened their issues. Anyways, long story short, after I left the center, my anxiety got worse. The anxiety and insomnia has caused my symptoms, though (yours is the other way around, I gather.). I was told to take Trazedone to help but have gotten little to no relief. I don't have insurance now, so I'm stuck with this but perhaps you could try talking to your doctor and trying a different drug? As for a solution to the pressure, I haven't a clue. I've had it for about a year now. The sensation will lessen and worsen throughout the day and gets unbearable right as I'm trying to sleep. I've tried quite a few home remedies but to no avail. It's as if I'm being submerged in very deep water and my head wants to implode from the pressure; it isn't painful, really, just very stressful and beyond annoying.

I have had head "pressure" since late November 2012. It started as a feeling like a band across my forehead, then migrated to the top of my head. I had a CT scan of my head and it showed no problems. Months later in May I went to an ENT Dr. who found that this pressure, which had become increasingly worse, was not related to any ear, nose or throat issue. He ordered an MRI of the brain, which also came back negative for any abnormalities. I asked my primary care physician to refer me to a neurologist and he said I needed to see a Psychiatrist and that the head pressure was "psychosomatic." I've been on Mirtazapine 45 mg now for 2 months, but no relief from the head pressure. It gets so strong at times that my head feels like it is being subjected to extreme gravity or that something is pushing down on my head.  I've also had 5 visits now to a chiropractor, which has not really helped much at all. This pressure feeling is very pronounced throughout all of my waking hrs and is worse at the end of each day. I can sleep well and that is the only time that I don't notice the pressure. I'm so discouraged that there seems to be no answer to this tormenting malady.

I too have been having this head "pressure" thing for about 5 damn months now..  bout ready to drill a hole in my skull  :-@

For 11 days it was totally unbearable. Heartbeat pounding in my skull/ears, felt like my brain was going to pop. Like my blood pressure was high , but it was normal. Pulse was 120 though. Went to "urgent care" twice, they gave me an antihistamine first, then a prednisone prescription. Dr. said it probably wouldn't help, but didn't know what to give me. Didn't take it.

Finally went to hospital/ doctors clinic and saw an MD. Gave me Tylenol #3 and Riboflavin .. No good .. He couldnt figure it out and referred me to a neurologist who did a CT scan AND an MRI ... nothing .. well, there was a reference to "inter-cranial arterial sclerosis" which to me is telling me there in something clogged in my brain .. The "neurologist" says no, it would show up in one of the scans. Diagnosis' me with "migraines/cluster headache". Sends me back to the referring doctor after telling me he has more serious patients waiting. eh  Original Dr. puts me on Verapamil .. NFG.  pain gets worse.

The ONLY thing that seems to give me some sort of relief is ASPIRIN. I am popping 6-8 aspirin a day ..  Dr. tells me only one a day ..then gives me prescription for Propranolol.  again, No Good. Now, he too is at a loss on how to help me.

I have asked him to refer me to another neurologist. I already owe $thousand$ to the hospital and Dr.'s ..

I don't know what to do next, I can't deal with this pressure/pain in my skull all the time. I can sleep ok at night though.

Talk about your damn "quality of life" on the skids ..

Anyone?

Mike ..

Hi,

Trazodone may increase the blood pressure–lowering effects in patients who are taking antihypertensive medications.

Lindsey, Same problem..From my research..It's all related to Anxiety..its hard to believe, heart rate, head pressure, mind racing ..I could go on & on. What works for me is..Keep your elevated when sleeping (10-30 degrees), get inflammation down in your body...over the counter(turmeric & NAG) works great for me. Apple cider vinegar a must.

I started with black outs at first. So i went to the company's nurse and found out i was. Having pvc's my heart was stopping for three to five seconds. Well to make long story short i got a pacemaker inplanted i found out i have sleep apnia, chronic vertigo, and chronic anxiety. Now i feel presure in my head, can't sleep the same story. But i also have a loud ringing in my right ear. I can't get an mri cuz i have a pacer. Iv been endlessly looking for anwers in forums chats, asking doctors they just say ''learn to live with it'' and for the ringing in my ear.''sleep withthe radio on''

I have this same head pressure when trying to sleep, which makes sleep pretty much impossible. Try an extremely low dose of Amitriptyline of 10mg (or even cut it in half for 5mg) and take it 12 hours before you want to wake up. This literally completely stops the head pressure when trying to sleep. Ask your doctor first though obviously. I am still looking for a natural option as I prefer not to be on drugs; haven't found anything yet.
