Hello, I was wondering are there any good Strattera stories? My son is 12 and he is on Strattera for almost a month. He has stomach problems and I don’t see and improvement in his behavior. It is supposed to be very conflicted medicine.
Hi, my son has been on Starttera for almost three months. It worked great for him. Strattera was his first med, 20mg. this is good story about Starttera because his attitude has changed and I believe that is due the drug. He was terrible before Strattera. I hope everything works out for your son!!!
My eleven year old son has been on Strattera for a little over a month now. It has been wonderful. He is getting much better grades in school, is no longer in trouble all of the time at school, and accepts "constructive criticism" much better.
Strattera Is Actually One of The Worst I Have Seen.Horrible Side Effects,And It Doesn't Work Nearly As Well As Ritalin For Teenage ADD And ADHD.Granted,Any Drug Prescribed For This Will Basically Turn Your Child Into A Zombie,But Many Have Reported The Ability To Focus More. Now That The Government Has Run A Year Worth Of Tests,Many,MANY More Side Effects Are Being Brought Out(Which For Some Reason,They Have Kept From The Public Until Recently),Yet They Will Continue To Prescribe It.I Suggest You Chose Wisely Before You Put Your Child On Any Medication.Give It 2 Weeks Before You Decide,And Within This Time,Allow Your Child To Have NO Sugars(Natural Fruit and Fruit Juice Sugars Are OK,But Nothing With Corn Syrup Or Added Sugars)And Have Him/Her Drink At Least 1/2 Gallon Of Spring Water Every Day. Keep The Diet Clean And Simple(NO SODA POP And Potato Chips) And Monitor His/Her Behavior. If There Is No Change Over The 2 Week Period,Maybe A Medication Would Be Best. Trust Me On This,Give It 2 Weeks...That's Not A Lot Of Time To Take,Just Have Patience... Good Luck And Feel Free To Reply
I am a 38 year old male that was recently diagnosed with Adult ADD. My Dr. prescribed Strattera. I began taking it 25mg for a week. 50mg. for 2 weeks and 75mg. for 2 weeks. Make sure you take it with food. I didn't one morning and it made me very nausious. It was really helping my ADD symptoms, but I was having very vivid dreams and waking up between 3-4 a.m. every night. This began as soon as I started taking the Strattera. I loved the effects on my ADD but I didn't like the dreams, I never felt rested. My Dr. decided to stop the Strattera because of the dreams. Next my Dr. prescribed Adderall IR 10mg. twice a day. I took it for a week but couldn't tell it did anything. My Dr. upped the dosage to 20mg. twice a day, I was a little less irritable but no effect on really for ADD. I even tried 30mg. in the morning and 20mg. in the afternoon. Again really no help. I don't know if the dosage wasn't high enough? My Dr. said I should be able to feel a difference at 20mg. twice a day. I went back yesterday and he wants me to try Cymbalta. It is a antidepressant but works similar to Strattera. Cymbalta is a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) where as Strattera is just a norepinephrine reptake inhibitor (NRI). I will have to see how this works. I was hoping he would let me try another stimulant but he didn't think they would work sense Adderall didn't. I wasn't wild about taking an antidepressant because of the stories you read, but he said it will effect me differently because of the ADD than it does a normal person with depression. I trust my Dr. and I hope this works.
I'm 28 years old and have been taking Straterra for almost a year now and it has been very effective for me. The first month was hard because of the side effects and I'm still only taking 80mg a day, 40 in the morning and 40 at night. The side effects I exerienced were extreme fatigue, nausea, headaches and mood swings. About a month into it all the side effects seemed to disapear and my brain felt like all the cobwebs were wiped away. My thinking became much clearer, and my memory retention was better than it had ever been. It's also helped with anxiety. I was in Nursing school and needed help focusing which I've always had problems with, and I found that with stratarra I could actually read for hour long increments without having to go back over the reading. I think as long as you stay comitted to helping yourself and seeing it through the side effects straterra is very helpful.
My son, who is 15, has been on Strattera for almost a year. He takes it for ADHD. He had been on stimulants when he was younger, but they made him withdrawn so we stopped them. The Strattera makes him less impulsive and more together. It is hard to tell whether there are any side effects, to tell the truth, because behavioral changes could have other sources with an ADHD kid. He is a little bit OCD, but not in a debilitating way.
Hi, my son Jordan and his brother are both on Strattera they were extreme adhd kids acting out and loss of concentration in class all the time we tried many drugs and then Strattera and it has worked fantastic my older son is now at the top of his class on Honor Roll his kid brother is also one of the best kids in his class his teacher praises him. we too experienced the stomach aches it turned out to be due to dehydration if he eats more with it and drinks something to settle his stomach like milk for breakfast he should do better I wish you the best of luck stay away from the addicting drugs / narcotic ones like aderall. good luck.
My 12 year old son is also taking straterra for the past month first 2 weeks 18mg and then 40mg for the next two weeks... but am not seeing any difference in him im still seeing a very lost , disconnected , unfocused child. its making very worried seeing him like that no change,,and reading about straterra negative effects makes me even more worried. i read that your kids are on the honor roll that gives me hope that there could be a change...my question is when do you see the change in him.... how long does it take for the medication to take effect...thank you
I agree that strattera is a terribly useless drug but this is an obvious bot. Just want to point out that strattera and ADHD prescribed drugs won't make you turn into a zombie, only anti-psychotics and depressants can 'turn you into a zombie'.
Did it work?
Does taking Ethosuximide and Strattera together have counter effects or have any other serious side effects?
