2000, c3,4, 5 fusions. My pain level somedays is a 5-6. I take aleve, when needed. I went back to work after six weeks of my surgery, housekeeping. Yes I do hurt, once the spine is damage, you'll never be 100. Now fibro has invaded my left arm. I've been doing mind over matter for 15 years now. I have my soft collard on now, as tight as it will go, the less movement in the neck is better. Also laying flat and how someone gently stretch your neck towards them, ohh boy the relief, you can also cup your hands under your neck press up. I lift weights, hot and cold compress. Applying for disabitilty is a nightmare. $16.75 hour, great insurance. But the pain is trying to rule. I know your pain+

Hi, First, I hope you gain more relief each day! I had a ACF C-1-7 10 years ago. IMO, the worst decision I could have made in retrospect. As I sit here typing response w/ one finger, I'm scheduled for another MRI. It has been five weeks of excruciating pain and have now lost almost all function in right arm. We all have different cases but over the years I've continued to struggle w/ pain.

I had a car accident thirteen years ago, over the years I have had four lots of major surgery, on my neck C5and C6 ,and after three years constant pain I had a nerve stimulator implanted, but it never worked for me,after several years I had it removed,I have lived on Duralgesic Patches and fentalyn Lozengers for a decade now and have used a neck brace, which is the only real thing that helps me with the chronic pain..Thinking back after all these years of the pain and suffering I wish now I had never ever listened to my neuro surgeon and had the first lot of surgery, because I now feel that I could have coped with the original pain on light pain killers, not the heavy melds and havering to wear a neck brace full time to cope with the chronic pain.I wish I could reverse the clock.

I had fusion on c5-c7 about two years ago. The pain in my right arm and neck was terrible. After surgery things went back to normal with no pain. However, I now have pain in my right arm again and loosing grip in my hand. Sleeping is starting to be impossible. I thought it was carpal tunnel but found out it was tennis elbow. Got a shot in my elbow but the pain is there but even worse. It's depressing

Yes, I will be starting my third week of PT which includes traction, electrical stim,, ultrasound massage, manual massage, heat and ice packs, some exercises. I am trying this first b4 surgery, but had a very successful C6\C7 anterior fusion that saved my life and have been pain free for over 3.5 years until I herniated this one playing tennis. I have 4 more weeks of therapy and will evaluate progress on Sept 1.

So i just had my fusion done in my cervical spine. I woke up and screamed because my arm was so bad that it felt like if you touched me, you were burning me or touching a burn. I don't know. As I type now with my left hand, I can't open my hand all the way and from my wrist to my fingers, they hurt. So i also have neuropathy. So i am wondering if I should change from Gabapatin to the new drug Lyrica. I am so frustrated. My legs hurt too. I had surgery also in my left knee and had fluid in both knees. I am 31 with an associates degree and i have no experience in my healthcare field. I am almost afraid in due time I will have to apply for disability. This is not what i want for my life. I just can't have this happen. I read all your post and I am now thinking I need to stop shooting for the stars. I am also a smoker and now that worries me. I am doing my best to quit. I am trying to be positive and i Know i will have money in the end but money don't make you happy. So now I am thinking of a way to find people who would want to take control of this pain that doctors say that will get better but we all know, we will continue to have problems. I want to make a difference, i want to know that i am here for a reason. I am so sincere about this because I a also HIV positive, done drugs in the past and my family is poor. I did not grow up happy at all. Now this.....I have played in bed and thought to myself, its time to make changes but i am not that smart. I want to collaberate and perhapa find other creative minds that want to work hard to ignore the pain and make a difference for others. I have to do something, I don't know where to begin..... this was the first site i just so happened to come across. So here it is.... I am trying. The pain won't go away, i know this but it won't get worst if I work with the knowledge I know now. However, stress is not good for me either... I want to make sure I do something smart, wise, and useful with my money I will hopefully get for all my pain, surgeries, and now my dreams that I have to change around to adjust to my life style as I get older. Any thoughts? in box me. Phila, PA here

this is exactly what I'm going through. My neurosurgeon told me to see an Orthopedic because it could be Bursitis!!! The pain is much worse when I try to sleep, but it aches all day.....Taking Gabapentin now, but it's been almost 2 weeks and I'm getting no relief and the side effects suck!!!

My pain is back in right arm and manifests itself in both legs and left arm at times with pain up my neck with accompaning headaches. I had a C6-7 fusion back in 2012 and told neurosugeron pain was coming back but was told damaged nerve endings take time ro heal. Im back on neurotin and seeing another Neurosurgeon who is taking a deeper look thru a myelogram. He saw some areas of concern that other Dr had looked over and said everything was fine. Next appointment is 2 Dec and hope there will be news of what can be done to eliminate my pain with the use of drugs.
