I realise this is quite an old thread now but been recently diagnosed with this and hysterectomy has been recommended but am not too keen. Has anyone not had a hysterectomy and had any issues as a result?
Thanks

I was diagnosed with APA in 2010. The condition was discovered through a D&C. The clinicians who treated me were vague in delivering the results and had me scared out of my wits. Their suggestion was a total abdominal hysterectomy, even though the condition was not cancerous or precancerous,, and they couldn't provide me with any concrete answer as to why such a drastic measure was suggested. In fact, the surgeon called me at home and warned me if I didn't have a hysterectomy I would be "sorry" because in 3 years I would be feeling "awful". Not enough of an explanation for me to chance having it done. I wouldn't have been able to take 4 to 6 weeks recovery time off work (either financially or sick timewise), and-living alone-I wouldn't have been able to manage with daily routines, driving to the grocery store, housework, pet care, etc. So because of the doctor's callous approach to the matter, I vowed never to return to the clinic and have sought no follow-up care in the ensuing years. The D & C put an end to my menstrual cycle and I've had no gynecological issues since that procedure. I feel great with energy to spare and no mid-life weight gain.
