my nieces baby was born may 26,2012 so far they found out he has a split galbladder and did not tell us what that actually means or what the outcome of this problem is. how does one live with a split gallbladder or treat something like that
Actually, people having gallbladders removed completely is fairly common and they live with out them without any complications. They go on living life just like everyone else in the world, not needing any special medicine or care. While, I have never known anyone with a split gallbladder, I'm sure that Dr's will either leave it as it is or remove it completely, and the baby should function like any other. The only bump in the road may be if Dr's decide it should be removed, then when, because if it isn't entirely necessary to operate on a baby then they would want to postpone it. Good luck to your family, everything should be fine :)
Hi Shirley,
Hey this is a pretty sad thing to happen to a new born baby. My wife has just had her gall bladder removed and the doc found it had split in half. My wife had been suffering from back pains for quite sometime and it suddenly got so bad we ended up in a&e. they also removed a truck load of stones from the remains!!! Hope all goes well with the baby
Regard..
