Have you tried over the counter headache remedies? If they are not helping, see your doctor. It could be something as simple as a migraine headache (simple though extremely painful) or as bad as a tumor (unlikely but possible). Only a doctor can tell you for sure.
You have just described the one symptom of a headache that you should go to the ER for " the worst headache of my life" is the one symptom they say that should get checked out immediately to rule out an aneurysm. So you should go immediately and no more delays.
