Hello,
I have this inflammation on my vaginal lips and I think this is bartholin gland cyst, since one of my cousins had the same thing going on. What is the treatment?
Thanks in advance!
Hello!
The treatment depends on some factors: size of cyst, how painful it is, if the cyst is infected and your age.
Sometimes there is no treatment (when the cyst is small, it is just observed what happens). Sometimes doctors put a small tube (word catheter) into the cyst and catheter stays in place for 2 to 4 weeks. Catheters aim is to drain the fluid.
If doctor decides for catheter, you can go on with your normal daily activities though having sex would be very uncomfortable.
Another procedure is called marsupialization. It is a treatment done in doctor’s office. Doctor makes a small cut into the cyst to drain the fluid. You might have light discharge for a few weeks.
There are also procedures that involve using laser and removing entire gland surgically.
Hi I am 23 years old a couple of months ago I believe it was in the month of July I had a bartholian cyst. I went through so much pain...it was rediculous. I could not do anything I waited too long and ended up going to the hospital 3 times (I went to the doctor twice) though nothing was resolved. I want to go crazy. I lasted about 3 weeks without being able to do anything at all. At the hospital they gave 6 shots of morpheen and still didn't help at all..Now I am 2 months pregnant and I am getting the same thing again...I dont know what to do...
I recently had my first experience with a Bartholin cyst. It was very large, the area was inflamed and very uncomfortable; I had no fever. I decided to try a homeopathic treatment because the medical/surgical options that I read about sounded painful and by no means guaranteed to prevent recurrence. On a board I read about Silica Complex (composed of calcium, magnesium, zinc, betaine hydrochloride, boron and horsetail leaf extract).
The posting recommended three times the daily serving size (so, 3 tablets per day) for three weeks and to continue to monitor progress for two weeks after finishing the course of tablets. While taking the remedy, I found I had significant reduction in the size of the cyst. After the two week monitoring period, I noticed that all that remained was a very small nodule. I decided to give it another two weeks before consulting a physician.
Shortly thereafter, during sex, I had a bit of bleeding and presumed the cyst ruptured. I was relieved to notice that it was gone completely. The side of my labia that had been so swollen and red was now as smooth to the touch as the other, checking with fair amount of pressure to be sure that no sign of the cyst remained. I recommend this remedy whole-heartedly in cases where there is no indication of infection (like fever).

Thanx for the info but how many milgrams where each pill and what brand did you use
Go to health food store . Get (1.)Bamboo it's the strongest silica 10 times more than horse tail. Take 3 times a day for 3 days or until gone (2) Get Folic Acid 800 mg. Take 1 a day. Until cyct gone. (3) 3Vitimans c 3 times a day first 3 days, then go to 1 a day. - (5.) Garlic pills 3 times a day until cyst gone. (6)Witch hazel soaked on cotton ball with or without heat will also help with pain. This remedy will work. Cyst run in my family. All the women take the pills above. The cyst will burst/desolate on its own. Goodluck. If your money is low get the Bamboo and Witch Hazel. It may take longer but will work.
TYPO CORRECTION to above. 1 vitamin c 3 times a day for first 3 days, then 1 a day until gone.
I very rarely post things on forums, but knowing how dreadful this is I had to share my experience and possible cure for Bartholin Cyst! I started with a Bartholin Cyst last Sat (8 days ago) and it quickly became very big, comparible to a medium size egg! Incredibly painful, aching, couldn't bend over, or walk for long if at all, only felt comfortable in the bath or laid down - as time went by, the pain increased, and so terrible at times I would cry out, wince & flinch! Got pains down my legs too and I had a permanent frown, can't stress enough how horrible this has been and how ill and scared I have felt. So 8 days on? When I awoke this morning it had burst!! I don't know if the things I did helped, or if it would have just burst anyway? But I would like to share my experience, as I read lots of useful things online, and I hope to help anyone sufferring with this hell.
Everyday I had 3 or 4 hot sitz baths with loads of bog standard table salt in, and stayed in as long as I could, while cleaning the area wih a wash cloth. I have also been taking High Strength 1000mg Vit C, 400mg Turmeric (3 tabs), 300mg garlic capsules (as many as bottle advises) and Serrapeptase 80,000 (I took 3 doses twice daily - I ordered this online Sunday and got it Tuesday). I had never heard of the enzyme Serrapeptase before and I don't think it is something that is easy to buy on the High St, although I ordered easily online from a well known herbalist. I took Ibuprofen & paracetemol for pain relief. I also put some frozen peas in a food bag and placed them on the painful area, that was a temp relief for the pain too.
Everything apart from Serrapeptase is easy to buy in the UK, either from a chemist, supermarket or herbalist - I got almost everything such as Turmeric, Canesten, Calamine Lotion, Balance Active, coconut oil from the supermarket.
I used Canesten Thrush External Cream to help with itchiness and also some balance active gel (Bacterial Vaginosis treatment) for internal dryness and itchiness - to help balance the internal ph. I used Witchazel on a cotton pad to sooth, and another time Calamine lotion on a pad to sooth the area too.
Friday night I made a pessary out of Turmeric spice and Coconut Oil (they activate each other - I think). 1 tsp oil, and added as much Turmeric to make it the consistency of dough, rolled into a bullet shape, then inserted as you would a tampon - Be warned! Turmeric stains everything yellow! Nails, fingers, skin, PJ's, pants, towels! Make sure you wear a pant liner! The Turmeric felt soothing and not painful at all.
On Saturday still no joy, feeling depressed, so I made a thick paste with Bicarbonate of Soda and water and put this on, OUCH!! This was excrutiatingly painful! I quickly jumped in the bath to get rid of the pain - I had a similar experience trying apple cider vinegar - that burned a lot too! And I wouldn't try Tea-tree oil or Lavender oil as I knew that would burn (unless really watered down with a base oil, like Almond oil).
On Saturday evening I heated a clean cotton wash cloth in water as hot as I could bear, wrung it out and kept in place till it cooled, I did this about 6 or 7 times, I would have done it more if I could have, and would have done this every single night knowing what I know now! I woke up on Sunday morning and it had burst!! I was soooo happy!!! I had a hot bath after WITHOUT any salt or soap, and massaged the area to help get rid of the puss and debris.
I tend to think the Turmeric pessary was the thing that worked, it is a very powerful anti-inflammatory, and I believe it drew the cyst to a head and thinned the skin, and then putting the hot cloths on helped burst it - thats what I think worked (i'm not a doctor, but just did things that seemed to work for other people). I will continue with hot showers, baths to keep clean, but not with salt or soap down there until it has healed. It is painful to pee, so I have a bottle of water by the loo to pour on my bits to dilute the sting of the urine! It feels bruised and swollen still, but hopefully on the mend now. Good luck and hope this maybe of some help to you - good luck and hope you feel better very soon x
