Agreed - after working hard (diet & exercise) for a year to loose 90 lbs, I switched from Quasense to Jolessa (both generics of Seasonale) when I switched insurance. First week - 12lbs gained. second weeek - 7 lbs gained. Considering I had spent 13 months up to this point calculating the full nutritional value of every morsel I put in my mouth and calculating calorie burnt in the gym, I *KNOW* that Jolessa did this. Since then, I now range from 20-30lbs heavier than where I was before I started Jolessa. Also, I couldn't see out of my contacts - I thought I was going blind and rushed to the optometrist! Found a forum online where it turned out, I wasn't the only one...

Will start taking Junel tomorrow - generic for Loestrin. Hate 7 day pills, we'll see how this goes.. I think next up might be BeYaz...

I'm on Loestrin, which is great for what it's supposed to do but I've gained too much weight on it, it is supposed to have less estrogen

I am 16 and taking Yaz to stop my ovaries from creating cists that cause me a lot of back pain, the first pill I took was a "period once every three months" kind of things and I gained over ten pounds in two months. Since switching to Yaz, I have stopped gaining weight, but I can't lose any. I used to be a size 0 and now I'm a 6, I play sports year round for my high school and club soccer team and I'm on a very low salt diet, but I still don't have any results, the only thing I can think to do is live with the back pain and get off the pill. For the sake of the stretch marks I now have, any suggestions are welcome.

Hello I am 21 and have been on b.c for about 4 years now. The first b.c i took was Yaz, and it worked great for me. No weight gain and it even helped me lose weight. However i decided to switch becuz of all the lawsuits and reports of yaz having serious side effects. I swicthed to loestrin fe which was the worst mistake :-( I gained about 10 pounds in 3 months which was very weird for me becuz i do watch what i eat and exercise daily. So i went back to my doc and asked her to switch my b.c because it made me gain alot of weight, she blammed it on not eating right and exercising but in my case i knew it was the loestrin. I had her switch me back to yaz and a few months after i was able to lose 15 pounds which was great. But a couple of months later she told me she wouldnt give me yaz anymore bcuz it was soooo bad for u. She switched me to lo loestrin which claims to be the lowest dose pill out there and this pill did not cause weight gain but for sum reason i could not lose anything on this pill no matter how hard i tried, also gave me really bad acne and my period only lasted a day which was odd for me. So now im off the pill going on 2wks now so i can try to lose weight. Hopefully it works but i do plan to get back on the pill so please any pill that you know doesnt make u gain weight or break out let me know..... I heard ortho tri lo was a good one???

I am 18 years old. I have been on the depo shot for over a year now. I started the shot 6 weeks after the birth of my son. Before I got pregnant, I weighed between 115 and 125 for a while. During my pregnancy, I gained a healthy 37 pounds, which brought me up to 157 pounds. Sixteen months later, I weighed 150 and I am constantly depressed. I do not exercise much beyond my everyday motherly and house duties, but they keep me busy all day. I eat healthily, about 1200 to 1500 calories a day, eat a variety of foods, drink water, one can of coke per day is my limit and eat plenty of fiber. I still can not lose weight. However, when I went on vacation last month, I ate a little more unhealthily, though not very much, in one week I gained 4 pounds. I was also swimming and in the sun a lot. A month later I now weigh 154, back in my eating routine and still can't drop the extra pounds! :(

I have heard that Yaz, Yasmine and Zanc are bad pills to take. My doctor doesn't recommend those pills due to major emotional problems and other serious problems that come with it. I recommend that you use other types of pills other than those brands. As for gaining or losing weight from a pill, make affect every one differently like some people may not even gain weight at all and not have emotional problems. Or it may go the other way around. I don't think you can avoid it unless it doesn't affect you.

Hi,

I am from India and have used several birth control pills.

I am not sure about teh contents of them but I can give you the brand names and effects:

1> Yasmin : nausea, indigestion, general feeling of disconfort. Had to discontinue after 1 week.

2> Miliana: no side effects except I lost a lot of weight and since thsi was immedistely before I got married.I loved this side effect

3> Dronis-30: no side effects except a lot of weight gain.

The problem is Miliana is nit available in most parts of India so we have to use a different brand.

I am on the Implanon, I had my son Jan. 4th, 2012 I weighed 198lbs, I got the Implanon in on Jan. 7th, it's now Dec. 4th, 2012 and I am now 238lbs, my weight fluctuates between 240lbs-238lbs. I dont eat out, I eat healthy, I exercise, drink only water, ect. ect. and no change at all. It works great if u dont mind the mood swings, depression, and excessive weight gain. I'm getting it taken out on Dec 19th because of all these issues, not to mention the fact that I have read so many reviews of women who had the Implanon and took it out to try to have a baby and hadnt succeeded in years of trying, it causes infertility too....so im just sticking wt condoms. Bc i have been on the pill, nuvaring, shot, and now the implanon, im done trying to find something the doesnt cause more issues than its worth.

Everyone on this thread is ridiculous. Start working out and eating healthy and stop blaming your birth control for your entire weight gain. News flash...when you get older you gain weight from unhealthy eating and not exercising.
