I had same thing happen to me last night. I threw up very violently 5 times in a row. I expelled everything form my stomach. I got up from the toilet and washed up. I turned the light on and seen what looked like freckles under and around my eyes. I tried wiping them away and the blood actually smudged. I still had the spots 12 hours later but I suspected it was like a bruise and they will go away. I have a few freckles any way. It looks like red and orange freckles now, Lol.

My son has been getting these red blotchy spots every time he throws up or coughs real hard since he was 4, he's now seven. Last year after a really bad bought with the flu, his face looked like he had been hit with a baseball bat over and over. Blood tests have shown that his hemoglobin's are slightly elevated - if this has been happening to you too and you don't drink excessively then this is likely the cause. In my son's case his hemoglobin's aren't elevated enough to need medication, but you might want to visit your doctor or hematologist to check out your own. Unfortunately I don't think there's much that can be done to speed up reducing the redness, sometimes gently washing the face with a warm wash cloth and applying aveno oatmeal lotion helps a bit, but aside from that you'll have to wait till it disappears on its own.

Hi All,

I get this from vomiting too. Had it for years and learned a few tricks. Firstly, try not to lean down to vomit - i.e. if you lean from a bed to vomit into a bucket it makes it worse. Also try to remember when you're feeling sick that this will happen (hard - I know) so try not to force the vomit out violently (I know I am a bit dramatic).

For afterwards I always find the best way to get rid of them quick is immediately after apply thin slices of cucumbers on your face (cools it down too) and then afterwards stretch mark or scar cream for the next day or so - they go down really quick!

Hope that helps!

Thank you for all of your postings. I am 17 weeks pregnant and STILL have morning sickness. The tiny red blotches are all over my face & eye lids. This is the first time I have had this happen during my preganacy and it is nice to know that I'm not alone.

The best wasy to speed rovery from the splotches will be vitamins. ESApecially C, B-12, and niacinamide (B3), and biofalinoids like red wine.

Kept up it will also prevent these symptoms after vomiting. Take your pills!

I vomited pretty forcefully 3 days ago and my face is still red and blotchy. I was getting concerned and wanted to know what was going on with my face and neck. I checked WebMD and that was a waste of time. I just googled "red blotchy face after vomiting" and found this site. Thank you all for posting your comments--they gave me peace of mind. I know now that it's normal for some people and I guess it's now normal for me. I'll be 60 years old soon and this has never happened to me before. I usually vomit when I have migraine headaches. As difficult as it sounds, I'll take the advice of a previous post and try not to bend over as much when I vomit. I hope the blotches go away soon.

I'm about 2 months pregnant and after morning sickness has gotten the broken blood vessels. I will tell you though that I use ponds cold cream and it seems to clear it up rather quickly. My face was covered with them sunday and on tuesday they were pretty much gone. Just a thought it may help others also

This also happened to me yesterday after some seriously violent vomiting due to food poisoning. My eyes are completely full of broken blood vessels and I have bruising around my mouth and nose. I take celexa for depression and I'm thinking that maybe this has something to do with it, since one person here posted that they are on anti-depressant drugs. I can't seem to get rid of the blue ring around my lips from the broken blood vessels, but I did use cucumber slices on my eyes, which greatly reduced the huge amount of swelling around my eyes.

I know you don't care what I think, but be careful drinking so much you puke. Even if it is after just one. Listen to your body! (Been there, done that)    I just saw these spots on my 4 year old who was puking all day today.  Thanks for he good info.

This started happening to me about two months ago. After drinking too much, I have vomited and almost instantly the red splotches are on my face. I went to the doctor and they said Hydrocortisone cream applied on your face throughout the day helps, as well as some kind of allergy relief like benadryl or zyrtec will help with the redness.
