So I'm Anosmic, meaning I have absolutely no sense of smell. I was born this way and so was my father and sister. However, my doctor continuously tells me that Anosmia is not genetic. If lack of hearing or sight is genetic, couldn't smell be too? All three of us are also severely asthmatic. Perhaps my doctor is just incredibly stupid and can't distinguish a connection between this?
Maybe, you have some polyps in your nasal that block your sense of smell. Asthma may be responsible for some air blocks in your nasal due the polyps that leak some fluids in your throat - into your lungs.

Another issue, anything that could be a problem in your house such as toxic chemicals or stealth molds or stuffy air in your house from old mattress and old couches. Almost all couches have cardboard inside them. In the oldest days like 1800's, they had real good couches that are made of real woods. Nowadays, we don't have that. Perhaps, some of them are made in China. Most home-owners almost never open their windows at night or even closed their shades all day everyday. The sun can kills molds if you open the shades.

If you are smoking, then you really have to quit it.
