June 23rd will be one year for me I smoked for about 30 years and I feel horrible, I too feel that I breathed better when smoking, but on the chance it's just going to take me longer to fix than normal because I smoked so long I will hold off.

I quit smoking 9 weeks ago after smoking for almost 30 years. Since quitting I've been having a harder time breathing than I did when I was still smoking. I've been all over the internet looking for answers and the one that seems to be the favorite is the lungs are beginning to heal. The little hairs in the lungs are coming back and it could take months to start breathing normal again. I've spoken with 2 doctors and both of them supported this so I'm praying it's true because this sucks. I've read that exercising can help a lot so I'm going to start going for walks. Congratulations to all of you who quit smoking! I hope you all start feeling better real soon, take care:)

Hi Sarah,
Thanks, How are you doing now? I am 40, have completed 286 days of cold turkey after smoking for 28 years, lots of things has lot improved, except the tingling pain in chest, wetness or cold jerks for a fraction of second and dull pain which affects my mood, reduces energy levels, I also strongly believe its something to do with lungs and sternum ( i can hear a twitch sound ) are recovering. Exercise especially Yoga, Walking, Meditation and over counter medicines and continuous talks about your condition with people who can give you hope especially a quitter helps in this matter. I will not take up smoking ever again though. please continue your quit no matter what the reason could be.
Thanks

How rude and inconsiderate of you to deny the faith of others. I respectfully suggest that you refrain from posting such poor (and poorly spelled) thoughts.

I quit 7 months ago after a massive heart attack and a quadruple bypass surgery. I'm 61 years old and smoked for 48 years, other than 12 different medications, what is really bugging me is the constant wanting a cigarette, I have stopped before both times for a year each time. This time it's serious and I can't start again. Anyone any ideas about combating the " want " would be great.
