Alright, I don't think I'm pregnant and I don't think I have an STD. I've been on the birth control pill for a little over a year and haven't had sex in two months, so I am not pregnant. I was tested for STDs about 8 months ago, and have been with only one partner so I don't have any STDs. Lately I have been experiencing dark brown almost black discharge, which started only 4 days after my last period. At first, I thought that maybe it was left over from my period, but it's continued and gotten heavier. I have noticed slimey clot-like stuff in this discharge and the streaks it leaves on my underwear is black and brown and looks like poop! I'm so confused and I wish I could go to the doctor, but I don't have health insurance! Does anyone have any thoughts or advice? What could cause this?
I am experiencing the same thing and everyone else is stating that I could be pregnant?! but im DEF not pregnant. sadly i have not had sex in 3 months and i have always used protection when i did. The discharge is a clearish pink/brown with brown/black stringss. really creepy and im concerned cause ive been experiencing abdominal pain for a few months and have been having a lot of stomach problems. obviously i should see a dr but i have been b4 these strings have appeared in concern about the abdominal pain and they cant find anything wrong.

I have been having similair problems. Mine is clot-like blood with slime brown/black strings. I have abdominal "cramps" also. Mine get so bad that I cannot walk. I feel tired. But can't sleep. I went to the ER a couple weeks ago and they said it was just stress. >:( I do not believe that though. Anyone who might know anything please let us know. If you have not experienced this, count your blessings. !

Hi OP,

I'm so sorry!!! It really sucks to not be able to go to the doctor when you're really worried about something. :(

Black or really dark brown vaginal discharge right after your period is usually just blood left over around your cervix. At other times of the cycle, it can also come due to trauma (like you injured yourself down there) or because of an STD.

When you say it is getting progressively heavier, that makes me think of something else though. It could have something to do with being on the pill, it could be a miscarriage, it could be some kind of cervical infection?

Do you have a free sexual health clinic near you? If you do, please consider going.

I had a c-section 2 months ago! I am not pregnant I know that because I have not had any intercourse since well before I had my son. But since my c-section I have had the brownish/black strings and cramping. Mine are also so bad it hurts to walk sometimes. Someone help!

this is the same for me...its been happening to me constantly in between periods since november 2007!
i'm not pregnant because iv had all my periods and have also been to the doctors and none of them have said anything to do with that..
plus technically it would have been born by now!
Doctors have no idea what it is, nor do they seem to care that much..they said it was hormones and changed my pill, which didnt work, and then i pestered them for ages until they looked at me, i finally got refered to the hospital where i had a colposcopy, smear and biopsy. Then i got told i had abnormal cells which they would check again in 6months, the next time i went i had tests again and they said i was back to normal now and to have another appointment in 6 months which i'm yet to have...But the bleeding is still happening constantly and im still no nearer to knowing the cause, i dont know what to do!

SAME HERE! Dark brown, kind of looks like poop. Mine was just in my underpants, and just once (so far. It started today). I'm not sexually active, I've been checked for STDs recently, I'm not due for my period, yada, yada, yada. No cramping or discomfort either. Ahh!

Have you taken an HPT to make sure that you are or you aren't pregnant? I think it would be a good idea because it sounds like you're worried. Let me know, okay?

Hey all! Hope this will help.

I was experiencing all of this. I was on the pill for over 6 months and hadn't missed a day. My fiance and I have only been with each other and have been tested for STD's anyway (negative). I had extreme abdominal pain, crippling depression to the point I COULD NOT get out of bed, extreme fatigue, poop-like brown stringy discharge, multiple ER visits, pelvic exams, CT scans, ultrasounds, pregnancy tests. FINALLY, an ER doctor did a pelvic and told me that he though it might be Endometriosis and referred me to his "favorite GYNO." There's no way to tell 100% that it's endometriosis without laparoscopic surgery. I'm a junior in college and I had not been able to attend class due to crippling pain so I decided that it was worth it to see. So, I decided to get the surgery. While I was under the knife he discovered one of the worst cases of endometriosis he's ever seen, but was able to remove most of the tissue. That was in October. This is January and since the surgery I hadn't had any pain until the last couple of weeks. Because Endometriosis is a life-time, un-curable problem, it could come back. But in minor cases, as most are, it takes years if it comes back at all. Usually the level of pain has nothing to do with the severity of the disorder, the cells might have attached to a nerve or something in your reproductive organs and the pressure is what could be causing the discomfort. If it returns a short time after surgery, your doctor might result to putting you in temporary menopause which means that you would not create any endometrial lining and therefore not have to worry about it not shedding properly.

I'm not a doctor, I just think that a lot of you seem to have the same mysteriously frustrating symptoms I had. No matter what, if the pain is so bad that it interferes with your daily life, you should probably see a doctor. I hope this helps! If you have any questions about endometriosis, email me and I'll try to direct you to the information as best I can!

Thanks!

The gooey part of the dark stuff sound like a mixture of vaginal discharge and blood from your period. The body is cleaning its self out because you have had no sex for 3 months. The pain is caused by the muscels contracting. When a women has her period its like going through labor in a different kind of way. When the pain is to much i recommend a heating blanket on the stomach. Lots of water or tea and some mydoel (not sure how to spell that one). Anyways this could also be because of the birth control i also recommend changing it. hormones in the body are constanly changing because the human body is constantly adapting to stress, the air, different bactiera. All this can cause changes in the body. If anymore questions please fell free to email me

I've only had sex once and im not pregnant, obviously. But i have been experiencing this brown, almost black, clumpy, stringy discharge for the past week or so. It's gotten heavier through the week. But i have no cramps or anything that some people are talking about. But i did miss my period this month so I thought it was just spotting. I guess not...I'm really nervous especially since i havent ever been tested for an STD. I have no clue if this is normal or if its just a freak thing. But i dont want to tell my mom because i dont know how to bring that up with her. Any advice?

So I experienced this "poop like" discharge that stains my panties and it looks like skid marks! (Lol) I am 7weeks 6days pregnant. For some reason every time I take a c**p I have brown vaginal discharge coming out. When I wiped I notice this weird slimy, but clumpy tan looking discharge.. Texture was almost like semen. I don't know what it could do but I am not experiencing cramps. Just my regular throughout the day morning sickness. My doctor told me not to worry unless I'm soaking thru pads, or have severe cramps to where I cannot move. But maybe because I'm straining myself when I take a c**p is the reason for this discharge.. Well if it persists I will call my doctor to get checked again.
