I took allergy shots from age 4-11 and 15-23.  I am now 53.  I always had stiff sore muscles at the site of injections in arm or leg for several days after the shots.  Years later I developed permanent stiffness, weakness and pain in all those locations.  Every time my immune system is triggered by a cold or virus it flares up with bad pain and stiff muscles in my neck, shoulders, and upper back.  I also develop flushing in my face and neck and chest and mild fever in the evening.  4 years of testing can find no known disease causing these issues,  I strongly suspect it is long-term side-effects of the allergy shots I took for all those years.

Five shots in two weeks is a lot. My clinic warned me of possible symptoms. Any significant reaction means the next dose you get is the same as or lower than the dose that caused the symptoms. There is a 5-9 day interval between shots. Your clinic sounds recklessly aggressive and uncommunicative.

Wow this sounds extremely close to what im going through. My body aches so much I cant do anything. Im fatigued and all my body ached and joints. Ive gotten all the tests done like bone tests because they think it could be Rheumatoid arthritic or fibromialgia. I have been on my shots for about 2 years and some months now. I was thinking when none of the tests showed signs of anything that it could be from my shots. This has been going on for about 6 months and its been really putting a damper in my life. I cant work and finish school. I had my appendix taken out and shorty all this started happening. I also had signs of mono after my appendix was taken out about 3 weeks later. That was when i started getting all my joint pain and muscle stiffness, then I went to see a rheumetologist. They said i had mono but I didnt have any fevers or sore throat. All I had was the joint pain and fatigue. Now 5 months later I feel is too long for mono... And all I can think of is my shots i get done. I feel the shots mess up your immune system and can cause autoimmune diseases like symtoms. I also though I could have lupus. Sorry for the long post, I hope we can both find answers.
Take care!

No I am having no problem reporting my reactions to the shots and getting treated for those symptoms or having the Doctor alter the protocol to accommodate my immune systems reaction.

Does any one else here know how to complain to their physician or the shot nurse?

I had same issue when starting shots. They gave me glycerin (I believe) along with shots and it helped. Ask your Allergist about that--

YES!! I can barely lift my arms and the shoulder joints are causing me problems I've never experienced before. My weight gain (if any) is due to my diet, I think--after all, we just went through the holidays! At first, I had less fatigue...but now, I'm not sure. I feel achy all of the time.

Has anyone been able to get bonafide documentation on the connection between allery shots and arm/neck pain etc?

My allergist looked at me like I had two heads.  Also poo-pooed my internet findings..(as have some of my other doctors)

That's why I am searching for medical documentation.

Could long-term allergy shots cause a fracture or bone density problems?

I've been having pain in my arms, shoulders, and lower back for over two months since a severe reaction to allergy shots. The doctor and the nurses who give the shots act as if their is something wrong with me. I won't have another shot. Most nights, the pain wakes me up, and getting out of bed in the morning is so painful I have to sometimes take an extra half hour to get ready for work. I've tried chiropractic treatments, massage, hot showers and baths, ice, gentle stretching exercises, and nothing seems to alleviate the pain. I'm better during part of the day when I've been moving around for hours, but it starts in again at night. I'm very strong still, but can't do any work or any lifting without so much pain that I usually have to stop.

I am on my 3rd course, the first being about 5 years ago, the 2nd a year ago and this is the 3rd supplementing the second course. I don't recall the arm pain in the first course definitely yea am experiencing it this time. From my shoulder to my elbow aches like an inflamed tendon. Anti inflams and paracetamol do little to relieve it. only notice it the day I have my shot and the following day or two. I'd wager if I raised it with my allergist or doctor administering the shots that they'd tell me its unrelated. i mentioned it today to one doc (several different docs give me my shots) and she didn't have much to say. Anybody have any medical acknowledgement of the condition?

I have taken allergy shots some 10 years ago and they didn't affect me...   I'm starting back on them now and have been taking for about 3 months....  this time they are causing me some pain in my arms, shoulders, back, hips, and abdomen I believe....  stinging, burning, dull ache, and stiff neck......  didn't have a thing wrong like this until I started back on the shots...  I'm thinking something really serious is going on....  so I go in for CT....then I go in for a Indoscopicultrasound of stomach and pancreas......no problems found.....so what is causing my pains and aching??  Now my sides are aching and hips are hurting all the time...  was doing great until I started taking these shots this time round....  Has anyone got proof of reactions like mine with taking allergy shots???  I'm allergic to all trees, grasses, some foods, pets, and meds...  Just wanted help with allergies and now have a body that is falling apart.....  :-)  Can anyone help me with this?  TIA

That happen to me also, when they up the dosage on the injections it get worst, I have took 2 weeks off from getting my shots because my arm and shoulder are swollen and in pain something horrible. I can't sleep at nite. I been taking allergy shots for 6 months and I have put on at least 32 pounds. I don't think the doctor or the person giving the shot don't care

This happened to me too! I've been getting allergy shots for about a year. About 4 months ago I developed a hideous pain in my elbows that has steadily gotten worse. It now hurts to lift light objects. I haven't had a shot in 2 weeks and the pain is still there, and seems to be getting worse. I'm really scared I've damaged my body in some way from getting allergy shots and hope that if I stop the shots, the pain will also stop. I'm thankful for this discussion because my allergist tells me my pain cannot be caused by the shots. Now I'm pretty sure the allergy shots are the culprit.
