Started allergy shots in April of 2014 stopped in July same year because of extreme shoulder pain. Pain and weakness are continuing and now I get shooting pain in one of my upper arms and it feels like the ache you get when you get a tetanus shot, but it comes and goes. My arms are now so weak that I have lost half my strength. I was tested positive for the trees, grasses and mold in our area. Wondering if the mold serum is what did it.
More sleep and vitamin C helps me alot
Yes I have a lot of nerve damage i think from the allergy shots. I stopped the shots about six weeks ago and have shoulder and arm pain that continues. I had about five of my last shots have a bad side effect of tightness in my shoulder and arm at the time of shot and twice about twenty minutes later I had numbing pAin. I sure hope it goes away. I am trying ice packs , heat and massage but have numbing pingling pain hat persists now for about ten weeks. . It is really difficult to sleep. I am kinda sad because I thought allergy shots would improve my quality of life and now I feel like I have more serious problems due to inability to get proper rest and daily pain in my shoulders and right arm. I see a neurologist in six weeks for tests.
Almost as soon as I started shots, I started to suffer from joint and muscle pain and weakness. Allergist said it wouldn't be the shots causing it. So I saw my PCP who also said it's not the shots, it's probably a virus. I paused the shots because it wasn't a good idea to do the shots while sick. I was back to normal within the week. Went back to my shots and the pain and weakness came back, also had a sensation that I was tipping over and other symptoms, not to mention severe exhaustion. I was practically non-functional, other than pushing through to get the most basic things done (the symptoms mimicked lupus symptoms. After few weeks, it because really obvious to me that it was the shots causing this problem. I stopped the shots and was fine within the week. Have continued to be fine so far. The whole time, both doctors insisted it couldn't be the allergy immunotherapy shots causing this. I'm now sure that it was. Listen to your body, people.
p.s. if you experience these types of symptoms, stop your shots immediately. It seems like the longer you keep going, the harder to over come the damage done. EVEN IF it weren't the shots causing these symptoms, your immune system should be stable in order to undergo allergy immunotherapy. So, for example, if you have a cold, skip that shot. It's clear that many doctors don't even acknowledge this side effect (joint and muscle pain and weakness), so the reaction is clearly very abnormal and potentially dangerous.
It's been a few months......are you better? I had muscle joint pain awfully!!! I am going to quit the shots but was wanting to know how long it takes to feel better? Do you feel better?
I got 3 allergy shots once a week for 6 months, then stopped them. Around month three, I complained to my ENT doctor at the allergy clinic that I felt like the techs giving the shots weren't noting or passing along my replies to their question about how I did the previous week. Each time I told them I had a full blown allergy/sinus attack that kept me in bed for 3 days. By day 4, I was better but I had to begin the shots again by day 5,6, or 7. The doctor acted like he wasn't aware of my replies to the techs. He told me they would adjust the dosage down and hold me there longer, then slowly increase it to see where my threshhold was. The next week when I went in for the shots, the tech hurt me. It was the first time I said ouch so loud! After that, the arm that received the shot has hurt deep in the muscle. It would wake me at night, hurting from the shoulder to the elbow. Now it's just deep muscle pain and I have it everyday, but not all day. I'm wondering if the tech was told about my complaint when I saw the ENT and she was just haphazard in giving me the shots after that. Is it possible for them to hit a muscle and if they do, will it cause this kind of problem, and will it resolve on it's on?
Great question. I have had almost the same problem and I'm allergic to the same. Live in Houston TX.
I am wondering, one year later, how are you feeling?
These all sound so familiar to me. I just had my last shot 2 weeks ago and this time had a major pain in my tricep area when I reach up or stretch that muscle any time, especially as I prep to work out. It feels like the muscle underneath is attached to the skin and pulls and hurts when I stretch it or move my arm any way with elbow up. I really don't like this and it worries me. I am wondering if it is time to get off the shots and see if I feel ok a while. It is very red, raised bump that is painful all day and feverish each time now I go. :( I'm afraid it won't go away...maybe last months like yours. I massage it and think it might help, but doesn't.
How r your symptoms now?
I am feeling the same way my right knee it's killing me to the point that I can barely get up. Can't do no legs exercise. My left ankle is also hurting, my fingers and lower back! I really don't know what's to do
I have been experiencing severe pain in my left arm, doctor said it is tendonitis. I notice it more right after my shots. Haven't slept through the night in months because my arm hurts so badly. Cant get comfortable and nothing seems to help. This all started when I began maintenance doses. I hate to stop my shots but at this point my left arm is becoming useless. Any suggestions?
This is been doing helpful I'm starting with very similar pains. Except the my right need cracks every time I walk or go up the stair. I went to a rheumatologist and rule out any arthritis or rheumatoids. Because I had pains in both my knees when I was referred to the specialist. My hands hurts mostly my joins. I do mma and before the shots I never had a problem With my joins hurting me this eay. The joins area seems to feel very warm too. Very strange.
I've been getting shots for around five months now. I get dust mites, cockroach, bird and something i can't think of right now in one arm and trees, grass, cat, dog in the other. For for the first two months I was ok getting one in each arm 3x a week. The fatigue was there but not bad, just like normal hay fever summer fatigue. Slowly the fatigue got worse and I am now going 2x a week. The past few weeks I feel absolutely miserable with fatigue and my arm is twice its normal size for a day or two.
The arm I get the trees in (it alternates each time) always is the worst and I can't really raise it above my head without pain. I feel like I should just put it in a sling for a day or two after, lol.
Anyway, I've been worried for awhile. No one else I've talked to in the office has these kinds of symptoms. My allergist said I am one of the worst he has seen in a long time (excluding himself). I think that has something to do with it. As long as my throat does not close or my eyes get itchy the nurses or doctor is not worried.
I am going to be toughing it out and continuing these shots as I can breathe much better and I do not itch at all like I used to. I have four "levels" during my buildup phase, I just started my last bottle this week.
I've also found out i'm allergic to some foods such as eggs (stomach will hurt and massive diarrhea after eating them). Tough it out and hang in there!
