Hello! I have problems with my eyesight. My vision is decreased and I have often and intensive headaches. Also, I started to be very sensitive to light and sometimes have light flashes. Can I tell I have degenerative myopia or not? I have read some articles about it and I think I have all the symptoms. There are several cases of myopia in my family and I know degenerative myopia is connected with in heritance. Am I right?
Hello! You can’t just read an article in a newspapers and recognizing the symptoms diagnosed your condition. First of all you have to visit you eye doctor. He will examine your eyes and diagnose your condition. The symptoms you describe may be the symptoms of degenerative myopia but also they may be the symptoms of numerous other eye diseases. There are some evidences that support the theory that myopia is hereditary but I think stress and close work should be considered as well.
