In the past 13 years I had 4 partners: one 3 year relationship (lost virginity), one misguided one nightstand, one 5 year marriage and my most recent relationship that "ended" in October that lasted a year. I've had a very healthy vagina for all by life But this last relationship (come to find out with a non-condom using, multiple partner cheater) I have had nothing but problems. Every time we had sex (always unprotected as I have an IUD and I thought we were monogamous) I wound up in a doctors office being sent home with medicine for BV and an urging from the doctor to use condoms. Well recently, I stupidly reunited with said ex and low and behold I get BV again! I've read many medical journals and they all say that the exact cause isn't known but that it is more prevalent amongst those with multiple partners. Well, I didn't and don't have multiple partners but he has and I've only had this problem since he's been in my life. Doctors need to stop saying that BV can't be transmitted from your partner because they don't even know concretely what causes it. Yet, they do know that multiple partners plays a big role....sounds like a no brainer to me especially when often the woman is in a one-sided monogamous relationship. Just because a men may not display symptoms does not mean they can't be the cause or carrier of BV. There are several illnesses in which men and women display (or don't) symptoms differently.

I agree with you a 100%. Your story is exactly like my own. Monogamous relationship my entire life but this las relationship I kept getting bv never even heard of it until this man but the doctor & websites say it is not sexually transmitted.

I'm same, I've ended a 3 year relationship constantly suffering with the gross fishy smell, itching and soreness. And endless doses of anti biotics and it came straight back after sex. New partner, no problems. I'm back to how I was before I met the one with the BV infested penis!

Same here! I tjought i was the only one who has been going through this. I would go to my doctors and complain about eating and burning they will check me and diagnosed me with a yeast infection and or a bacterial vaginosis infection just recently I was diagnosed with HS. HS is hydranitis s. Which is a skin condition. But before then i would have sex with my boyfriend of 3 years and would get it right back.i thought maybe he was a carrier. But my doctor told me that was impossible so I just recently haven't got tested and they did a specimen test on him which came out negative. I just don't understand that since me and him have been together every time we have sex I would get a bacterial infection still to this day nobody can not figure out why last week I was just diagnosed with HS HS of the skin condition / disease what are boils.

Omg i thought i was like the only one who has been suffering this b.v... Me and my other half have been together for 3 + years and about a year ago i kept going to the doctors about burning and inching. They would always send me home with meds flagyl 500 milligrams and take for 10 days. Ok i would take them as told and then me and him back at it again (having sex) and a day later the inching and burning occurred. And im back at the doctors office and they'll check me for std's and hiv and ect.. And test will come back as B.V smh... AND THEY'LL give me meds AGAIN.. Im so tired of this. I ask him all the time r u cheating on me and his responce is alway NO... But he did cheat on me 2 years ago. And i did ask him to get tested. His doctors did an STD test as well as a specimen test on him to see if maybe he can be a carrier and that's the reason why I'm always getting a back. But all his test came out negative including the specimen test. So according to his test. He's negative.... Just last thursday i went back to the doctors. Come to find out by a Dermatology I have hydranitis. Hydranitis is a skin infection that occurs with boils in between my inner thighs or underneath my breath. since my inner thighs rub against each other this is the reason for boils, so with me having a boil, caused a bacterial infection which is called bacterial vaginosis.

No, Bacterial Vaginosis is not caused by sex. I remember when i discovered I had BV - just before I had sex with a cool new guy I had met. It was horrible and terrifying. I had real trouble finding a lasting solution - my BV just kept coming back. I can't believe I am calling it "my" LOL. Anyway, I read a book that suggested some natural remedy which seemed to work for me. No idea whether it will work for you.

YES to all these posts they cheat! I've heard it all from the doctors I have gone through ALL of what is being said on this post....the medication kills off the bad bacteria, but also the good....YES they cheat and pass it! But, when it becomes recurring, it's because the bad bacteria is growing back more than the good...after taking the medication even while you're taking the medication pick up repHresh Pro-B and continue taking it and DO NOT have sex with him for at least 10 days....that will stop it....if you get it again in the future, his ass cheated again.

I also suffer from BV, and believe that someone my husband gives it to me. My doctor told me to use probiotics for feminine health. You can get it at the pharmacy and any where else that sells yeast infection creams. I take it every night and it seems to health. She said that my husband's semen is messing up my vaginal flora. I have been sexually active since for 20 years and quite a few partners and never got BV until my most recent boyfriend. 2x in 1 month. Ugh!!!! It sucks. I have done a lot of research and so far from what I gather my vagina does not like his semen. He is also the 1st guy I've been with who is uncircumcised.
Question to you gals out there who have recurring BV. Does your guy smoke our chew tobacco? Mine does and swallows the tobacco spit. Is that or the smoking making his semen acidic?
