Few days ago, I have noticed my lips are swollen. I had never experienced something like this before in my whole life. I am 30 years old and I was health during my life. I do not think if that could be something serious or not. I do not know if I need to see my gynecologist because of this symptom, or should I wait a little. Can you tell me some reasons and causes why lips swell?

I am not a doctor or gynecologist to give you exact cause of swelling lips. I do not think they could tell you for sure what your problem, without physical exam is performed. I can help you just to say I had the same problem. I was younger then you are, but worried and surprised same way you are. That happened after I had sex with my boyfriend. I think I could understand it and wait if that was my first time. That is why I was afraid because I never had this symptom before. Just one morning I saw my lips are swollen so hard I could not wear my underwear. It was almost hurt, how irritated they were. Off course, I visited my gynecologist and he told me I have some bacteria. I cannot tell you for sure, if that is cause for your swollen lips, but if that does not come better in few days, make an appointment with your gynecologist.

Since the fall of 2005 I have experienced swollen lips followed by cracked lips. Once the lips seem to heal the swollen lips reappear. I have been to a Doctor and Nutritionist and nothing they prescribe works. This seems to be something that is happening to many people especially in the past year. It affects man and female alike from ages 19 to 60. Most of these people are very healthy. So this THING is making us crazy. We need to know what is causing the problem. Until today I thought I was the only person with this problem, but since this morning I have been reading case after case of others who are also experiencing this problem.

I had a small cut from my upper lip that seemed to be healing well then after a week, my upper lips started to be swollen, drainage was coming out and it was painful. I went to see a doctor and it was diagnose as cellulitis and I started taking antibiotics. The swelling got worse and it has spread to my lower lip. I saw another doctor and he thinks it could be herpes simplex. I started to take antiviral medicine. He said it will go away in a week. I have yet to see. All because of a small cut?

I have a question. I think nothing is wrong with me, but for probably a few years now, if not my whole life. I noticed that each morning I wake up and I have swollen lips. It's not horrible, it's not painful at all. It's just, they're a bit swollen. Why is that? Not that is bothers me, it goes down through out the day. It was just my curiosity got me.
