I am 8 wks preganant and have been diagnosed with a Cervical Polyp, about the size of a dime. Should I get his removed in the early stages og pregnancy or should I wait.

Thanks,

Raquel
Hi! I think you should discuss this matter with your gynecologist. The treatment depends upon size, symptoms, and other problems. I met a woman who developed a polyp during her pregnancy. We are seeing the same doctor. She told me they occur most often during pregnant because of the hormonal changes. Then I got interested in the subject considering I was pregnant myself.

I read that these polyps can get so big, that they could protrude outside from vagina. These are definitely to be removed. If a polyp is very small and asymptomatic, it may be left and sometimes they may disappear on their own during delivery. If they don’t disappear, then a doc may want to remove it.

If you are experiencing symptoms and polyps are big, it could mean that you could be experiencing problems during delivery and should remove it.

Cervical polyps are generally benign but may resemble some cancerous conditions, so some doctors may consider removing it for biopsy.

What did your doctor suggest?

I am pregnant and have cervical polyp. Is that dangerous? Will my baby be ok when she's born? And will it affect my husband when we have intercourse?
