Hey guys! I had the same exact issues for a while! The chest pain on the left side and on my back left shoulder blade, and after a night of smoking and drinking it was so bad. That happened quite often, well, I just got back from the beach for the holiday and yesterday I seriously thought I was dying, went to the emergency room got blood work x-rays and EKG, the Doctor said it was Pleurisy and that can cause some of the worst chest pain..and the reason it gets so worse after smoking and drinking is because the alcohol and cigarettes will irritate it making it worse.  He told me it wasn't caused by smoking although it doesn't help the situation.  He also said that pleurisy is a layer of infection around the lining of the lung, it can be cleared up by antibotics and he also prescribed me to loretabs for the pain, and I already feel so much better.  I'll also update you after I've gone through my medicine and seeing my doctor to see if it is cleared up. Hope this helps! =)

I drank loads of alcohol before, Ive bringed drinked and also not touched alcohol for seval weeks either, in short just about every thing. But its only as i sit here now after drinking some whiskey (Atleast 50ml) that ive experienced chest pains. and the preivios time i had chest pain was after whiskey. I am also having the same problem, however, I only have to drink a glass of wine on an empty stomach and I get chest pains and I can hardly breath.  I have to get a hot cup of tea or coffee and it releases.  I had an EKG recently and the heart Dr says I am ok, but I still am concerned.

I realize this post is old, but for those who may discover it by a curious web search, I want to say this. The person who said that the remedy is to stop drinking has good intentions, but that can be very harmful, and even fatal. If you drink heavily, you can die if you just flat-out stop drinking (look into Delirius Tremens, which is fatal in over a third of untreated cases). Seeing a doctor is unilaterally recommended for chest pain, but if you stop drinking after a prolonged period you can put yourself in severe danger of death; see a doctor (get to the ER if you get withdrawal symptoms), and they can bring you down safely.

I experienced something similar tonight. I don't drink much...1-2 drinks just a couple days a week. Tonight, just cuz I felt like it, I drank too much. My chest felt tight and my muscles across my chest and shoulders started burning like crazy. I just read on a yahoo page that this is because sometimes when you drink, it dehydrates you, which can sometimes cause your body to release lactic acid....just like when you work out. This answer made the most sense to me because that's exactly how I described the pain to my husband.

Alcohol is a huge trigger for people with anxiety and panic disorder.  It is frustrating, because while actively on the 'drug', you will feel more relaxed--this is a reason a lot of people with anxiety disorders seek alcohol   As soon as the alcohol has been processed, it will leave you in a state of heightened anxiety for a couple of days, and can trigger a panic attack.  Panic attacks aren't the way the name suggests--they aren't a 'mental breakdown' or 'freaking out'--they can feel very physical, like a tightness in the chest and a strong sense that something is physically wrong with you.  Alcohol also dehydrates you, and most people don't drink enough water to compensate.  This is also a strong trigger of anxiety and panic attack.

I would recommend all of you to just take a couple of days alcohol free, drinking a TON of water during this time.  If your symptoms are related to panic or anxiety, it may be alleviated.

I've been having these same issues but it doesn't go to my back and stuff. It's just strictly on my left chest. Occasionally I drink my weekends off. Fridays and Saturdays. I'm still young I wanna have fun (21). Some weeks I am perfectly fine and other weeks I would get these chest pains while I'm drinking . (I quickly stop drinking and wait for it to pass) its what I would normally do. It's usually the days I wanna get slammed or white boy wasted and enjoy life and have fun and special occasions That these pains whould hit me. It sucks but I could get through it. But what I have encounter today was 2 chest pains in one day. So I quickly stop like I would usually do. But this time I left home. Today was the first I encounter 2 chest pains in one day. You can say about 2-3 hours after the first one . I was extremely worried about my situation right after. Planning to go to the docs soon. Any advice or explanations would be gladly good. These chest pains would only happen when I'm drinking alcohol.

Hi, don't want to alarm you but I to had pain so bad it stopped me drinking and I felt like going home! I was 19 and had hidgkins lymphoma and pain when you drink is a common sign as well as others, night sweats, rapid weight lose, lumps in groin, underarm, neck. If u have any other symptoms get it checked sooner rather than later.
