I am having the same issue. Difficult to swallow food and drink water. Also when i try to take deep breathe. When will the pain go away? I am very worried. Would it result to other complications?

All the symptoms will go away and you will be back to normal in 2 weeks. But I don't know about other complications trying to find out myself.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Did you take any medicine on that 2 weeks? I am on 3rd day and it is more painful to swallow food and drink.

I too was prescribed Doxycycline for Acne. It caused me stomach pain and chest pains. Had me praying and revaluating my whole life. I really thought I was leaving here. I stopped the medication and contacted my doctor immediately! She offered another similar med that's not as strong as Doxycycline. Doxycycline is the devil in the form of a pill, I pray that you all get better!

Me too Anna. One day but two pills. Severe heart and back pain, chest cramps, stomach pain and slight nausea. It's all unbearable. They stopped the drug. Gave me ekg and said no damage. Two weeks later in having the same exact side effect mentioned above. Heart not as bad but breathing more difficult this time. Less wall of back pain but i still rolled around in pain for 30 mins. 2.15 hrs the first time. Good luck

This is true because I took it and went to bed and I don't think it went down far enough because I didn't drink enough water. I have pain in my lower chest

Hi everyone. I am so glad I found this forum. I had these exact same symptoms last night and even worse, an exam the next morning at 9:30am. My chest was pounding, my throat seemed to be dry and irritated no matter how much water I drank, I could barely breath, I was trembling with fear. It was a disaster. I think I made the whole situation much worse for myself due to stress, personal problems ect.. and I had a panic attack also.
I went to the Late Night Doctor and they confirmed the pill was stuck in my throat and they referred me to the A&E. I arrived there at 2am, was seen by a nurse after 30 mins and then didn't get to see the doctor until nearly 8:30am, an hour before my exam.
Anyways the doctor said that my throat had a slight bit of burning but that I had eventually pushed the pill down fully somehow. I am now feeling normal again. But last night it was absolute torture.
The doctor said I should be fine and my situation was definitely made worse by all of my stress.
She also told me I should finish my course of Doxycycline and I told her straight out I am genuinely terrified to take that tablet again. No way.

I hope anyone with the same problem finds comfort in this forum. You will be okay. This is only temporary. If this is happening you right now, the only advice I will give you is to drink plenty of fluids, eat buttered bread and some marshmallow biscuits if you can. (Mikado seemed to have done the trick for me)
P.S. as for the exam, I got a deferral, so I basically have a second shot at it, no strings attached, in a month or two.

So I'm experiencing some pretty nasty chest pain right now. This has been consistent with my Doxycycline usage over the past few days but I thought it was mostly due to insufficient amounts of food and drink I had on my stomach when I took the pill (Important to note, I wasn't having this issue the first few days of my treatment). However, my most recent one I took right after eating a full lunch with a glass of water has my chest burning.

Is this something that will eventually subside? If so, how long? I start an important internship tomorrow and I can't afford to be decommissioned.
