Count me in too; I've taken one pill and had a handful of reactions. Healing is slow and busy life irritates a night episode. Heart pain( though elf said no damage) and cramping, last night nausea felt like committing would help but couldn't, and difficulty breathing. The last two symptoms never so bad until last time I felt a reaction. Ranitidine may help heal ulcers or tissue but idk; it's stopping me in my life in a difficult time. Dr said it will take time. Please FYI if a class action suit. If I feel like I did again last night, crying on my knees, I'm in.

I'm a teen taking the same thing and this has happened to me. If you drink milk and eat bland food it helps.

The same thing happened to me. I wasn't put on this medication for my acne and have been taking it for 3 months- no problems. A few days ago I took it around 10pm and went to bed. When I woke up the next morning I felt terrible heartburn whenever I swallowed food or breathed in deep. It is now day 3 and the heartburn is still there whenever I eat. I am also starting to feel some backpain. I'm guessing based on the other responses that I felt this way because I took the pill right after eating oily food. does anyone know if this is why I have heartburn?

I take doxycycline, and I've had the problem with it getting stuck in my throat once. My doctor told me before I started taking the pill that you have to take it with a lot of water and sit up straight for about 30 minutes before laying down. Maybe try that next time?

Now in my fourth go around with Lyme Disease and once again taking Doxycycline Hyclate twice a day for 30 days. So far I've taken it 10 days and have had some issues of sleepiness, tightness in chest but more I feel the breathing is heavier both night and day. I'm making it work as one time before I had gotten the Bell's Pausy in the right side of my face which wasn't too pleasant either. Guess we have to trust the doctors the best they know at this point about Lyme but I'm sure in my mind we have a long way to go in finding all there is to know about this terrible disease.

Hello there,
I am really glad you shared this about the chest pain after taking doxycycline as I really having exactly the same symptoms as you had. I am not sure what you have done to get rid of it? I have been taking doxycycline for 3weeks now and just started to experience the chest pain 2days ago. And it's really getting worse day by day.

I might as well add my experience to this. Years ago, I had a severe rebound reaction to quitting Omeprezole, which I'd only been taking a week and shouldn't have been prescribed, that caused me to have debilitating reflux for 6 months before I got better. I never had reflux problems before and it was prescribed erroneously. Fast forward several years after feeling totally great, and I have an infection where my doc wants to give me an antobiotic. I reject the first one because I didn't like the "permanent" side effects that caused nerve damage. So he prescribes me doxycycline.

I took it around 2pm, and within a couple hours, i was on the toilet. Antobiotics are never a walk in the park, but I had a pretty bad reaction. I was bloated, no appetite, nauseous - all that good stuff for 6 hours before it abated. Then that evening, reflux hit me like I hadn't felt since the omeprezole incident. Gods no. So I decided not to take a second dose, and when I spoke to my doc the next day he said not to bother and I didn't have an infection after all. sigh

Hit that fast forward again. It took days for me to get my appetite back, and though I had reflux it wasn't painful. But about 11 days later, it hit me pretty bad. I went to get Pepcid AC, because it's an H2 blocker and not a PPI, which I now avoid like the plague. Three days have passed and I'm still having painful reflux. I was not initially prescribed this for any stomach-related problems/infections. I'm hoping that with time it's going to lessen, but after having that other incident with the PPI rebound that lasted half a year, I'm concerned. Aside from that, acid in the esophagus can eventually cause damage, so I'm trying to find all the right foods to help neutralize the acid so I rely less on pepcid AC since I'm not big on taking meds.

I was aware the side effects of this drug would be stomach-related like most antibiotics and skin sensitivity, but just be aware before taking this that I believe there is also a chance that you could have reflux problems even after ending your dose (and mind you, I only took one pill). I would probably suggest anyone who either has reflux issues or had any in the past ask for a different med than this one, just to be on the safe side. Bottom line: Research every med before you fill that prescription so you can switch if you don't feel safe. And if something ever feels really wrong, call your doc to switch meds. Everyone's body is different and reacts differently to pills. I'm so glad I didn't take any more of this, but now i'm sitting here with all-day painful reflux.

I took doxycycline for 7 days 500
Mg twice a day and I def. didn't drink enough water with it and would go right to bed! Two bad things apparently!! I have never had heartburn in my whole life, and was feeing it constantly after taking this medicine on the 4th day. I continued to take the medicine for the remaining 3 days because I wanted to finish what the doctor told me. I freaked out on the 7th day because I was feeling severe heartburn and I couldn't swallow anything. My throats felt like it had an opening of a pea. it's day 2 after the medicine and I THINK I am started to feel better. Not quite sure yet, What I have been doing is drinking tons of WATER, going for a nice walk every day and telling myself every day that I am getting healthier and healthier along with some meditation in there. I will be calling my doctor tomorrow just to make sure this WILL go away. I'd rather not take any more prescribed medicine though. HEALTH IS WEALTH EVERYONE! STAY POSITIVE :)

Hi, I took Doxycyiline with a bit of water yesterday and then laid down shortly after. Today I still feel like the pill is stuck in my throat, I don´t feel any chest pain or nothing like that. Should I be worried and should I see a doctor?

I’ve been though exactly what everyone is saying and after day 8 of feeling like death it’s finally getting better! Take anti inflammatory drugs and acid reflux tablets. Stay away from spicy food and wine! It’s a swelling of the asothogus caused by antibiotic burn. You will be ok take paracetamol and chew small bites!
