I want to clear some of the misinformation and scare tactics being used on here. First, puberty begins a long time before there is any visible evidence of it. Your hormones begin to surge, telling your brain to develop arm pit and pubic hair. THey also trigger your penis to begin to thicken and elongate and grow. The number and ratio of nerve endings in your penis will explode, leading to the penis becoming one of the most sensitive part of the body, capable of producing the most wonderful feeling of which a human being is capable of experiencing. This nerve ending and their growth will mean that one of the hallmarks of puberty in a young man is the seemingly random erections you will experience throughout the process of puberty. This can happen when you are in the shower, or if you see something visual that is sexually exciting to you, and at night when you are sleeping.

THe changes induced by puberty are well known to boys of this age, and are eagerly anticipated. This period of time is marked by anxiety, curiosity, and a burning desire to know that you are developing normally, positively, and comparitively favorably to others your same age.
