Had a sudden onset of labored swallowing that dissipated into the infamous Adam's apple clicking
Tried NSAIDs, airborne and others to see if it was inflammation or simply passing sickness -marginal relief
I have a thin build with a long neck (32 inch waist , 5'10)
Found laryngeal stretches helped curb the clicking but rubbing BIOFREEZE (menthol muscle relaxant -like icy hot) on my neck(front of neck too) did WONDERS
Suspect my clicking is due to neck tension (my long neck) but may get a fiber optic scoping done because I used to smoke marijuana

I've had this for some time now. Not more than a year. I've searched around the net and keep seeing anxiety and acid reflux. Well I don't have none of those. I'm pretty sure I know the cause of mine. It probably stemmed from my singing. I'm probably doing some of it wrong, but I'm always screaming all my favorite rock songs when I karaoke. I did notice the past year or two I have uncontrollable cracking in my voice when I sing. I would even sing when I had a sore throat. Every time I had a sore throat I noticed when my throat finally healed back to normal my singing degraded. These past months I started getting that clicking when I swallowed. I've never had that before. If I push on my throat and move it side to side I feel a lot of the clicking going on. It doesn't hurt. Just uncomfortable. I figure it's scar tissue, cartlidge, or calcium build up that's clashing against each other. Is there a way to remove it? I assume a neck specialist. So is my theory possible? Is this something that has happen to other people who screams their songs?

For all out there experiencing this, maybe this will calm your fears. I started having all the same symptoms of the clicking in my throat when swallowing suddenly one day. I panicked. I thought the worst and had all kinds of tests done to include a barium swallow, endoscopy, swollen lymph node removed, you name it. All tests came back showing no signs of any problems. That was 12 years ago in 2004 and I'm still here today with the same clicking sensation living a completely healthy life raising 4 sons. Was it annoying? Helllll yes. It still is, but I've learned to just live with it. But it wasn't the death sentence I originally feared as I'm proof here 12 years later doing fine.
