Hi, I suffer from severe IBS-D for a long time, and I tried many medications but none of them managed to help me properly. My last hope is colestid. Before I try it, can any of you tell me something about it?

Hello, I used colestid for lowering cholesterol in blood, because I had problems with weight and fat. I don’t know is it safe for you to take colestid, if your cholesterol level is normal. Maybe you will disturb some functions in your body. Ask a doctor for his opinion before you start using it. However, it is quite possible that your diarrhea will be reduced with colestid, because this drug sometimes cause constipation with people who don’t have diarrhea. So, its effect on the bowel movement is obvious. You actually want to provoke a side effect with this medicine, to treat IBS-D. To be honest, I don’t like this idea. But if your doctor tells you that it’s safe, then you should try it.
