nice info... this helps a lot ^_^
Not sure I follow this article. It starts out by saying that alcohol and medication interactions are mostly myths, but by the end of the article I feel that alcohol should definitely be avoided while on medication.
The article ignores the analgesic effects of alcohol and the potential benefits of a "wee dram" when not feeling well. People often combine antibiotics and ibuprofen/NSAIDS/etc. Surely there's a balance to be struck.
I cannot believe I actually read this in full as though it were a respected entry, onto to find you have quoted Wikipedia as a source. Ever hear of peer review?
Just as well you don't write articles then with that grammatical diabolique.
But seriously, wikipedia is supposed to be peer reviewed, but then again, it doesn't really carry all that much solid validity, although it will tend to be less biased/propagandised than any other info source.
Wikipedia cannot be quoted as a source though, as it is not a source. Maybe if the OP had investigated the wikipedia sources, and quoted those instead, as references, then there would be no issue.
However, I had thought that the main 'risk' with combining alcohol with anti-biotics was the alcohol killing off the ab, or inhibiting its medicinal action, considering alcohol permeates pretty much every cell in the body, and interferes with its function.

So, would it be fair to say that sugar has the same risk of interference with antibiotics, when it is consumed in large quantities, so that it can possibly compete for the same enzymes?
This article seems to incorrectly lump every antibiotics under the same umbrella. Different drugs have different reactions. If you take something like amoxicillin with alcohol it is not know to have harmful effects.
