I have been to see my surgeon who has needled my hems in the past. When i saw him recently, i have made a date next year 2014 in Feb, to have him operate and cut them out. My problem is that when i saw him, my consultation lasted only 5 minutes, he did not explain how he would do the op, he told me about what to expect after surgery, and also told me what to do about injections with the anethatist, as if i could remember all that, as i had no pants on, and trying to ask questions, while the nurse was trying to put my panties on..My partner thinks that because my surgeon knows me, and has done procedures on me in the past, that is why this has happened.
Hello,
I somewhat agree that your surgeon was probably more casual about the procedure because you've been his patient for a longer time, but that doesn't mean that you should go into this without knowing the details. I'd recommend you to call his office and try to get another appointment before the surgery, or at least get the nurse to tell you for which type of hemorrhoid surgery were you scheduled. There are several types of surgical procedures to remove the hemorrhoids, and without knowing which one exactly your surgeon will perform it's really impossible to say what he meant about the injections. Either way, you need to know more about this because, if nothing, you will have to prepare for the procedure in some way or the other - and you can't do this based on almost no info at all,
Wish you all the best,
Nicole
Hi thanks for the reply.
I feel the need to clarify things a bit more.
Last year 2012 when i visited my surgeon to organise another treatment with needles for my hemorrhoids, my surgeon said well this time just have them cut out, but i opted for the needling again.
So when i saw him 2 weeks ago, i had told the receptionist that i was coming to discuss having surgery.
I also feel that because my surgeon knows me, thats why he did not feel the need to discuss things with me in detail, also he had a lot of patients in the waiting room.
As far as i am concerned all of this does not excuse the hurried way in which he saw me.
I also was wondering if i should go for another consultation, but only if there is no charge, as i have already paid a huge fee for the first visit.
I dont really feel that the nurse would be helpful, as she did not even know what a sitz bath was.
The receptionist tried to answer some of my questions, but then she had to go and ask the doctor.
Not happy and think i should see another surgeon.
