Do you have any history of lactose intolerance in your family?
If I remember correctly if you have milk allergy, than this could be something that you have inherited from your family.

The only one in my family that has one is my cousin. I've tried cutting out dairy products from my diet, but even when I don't eat dairy, I still have problems. I thought if I had a lactose problem then I wouldn't have a problem going to the bathroom. Everyone I know that does, has no problems with that at all.

Hi Kate

A lactose intolerance (shortage of the enzyme to break down lactose) tends to draw fluids into the intestines, producing watery diarrhoea. Dairy intolerance (immune reaction to the protein component of dairy) can produce a wide variety of symptoms, both physical and psychological.

Looking forward to hearing the results of your stomach biopsy.

Should I start over with my GI? Tell him all of my symptoms again, he didn't really ask much when I went in.
I lost 40lbs, pain in my upper abdomin, and on both sides of my abdomin, I get buldges in my upper left abdomin, and underneath my belly button that causes my belly button to pop out, pain after eating, pain when I have to go to the bathroom, and constipation.
I really hope that he can find something from that.

hey, it sounds like that lump that you found is probably the source as that is very painful when touched and the pain then goes towards and down your left side. although it could be celiac disease which is when your body cannot process glutine. (a protien found in foods high in carbohydrates grain, flour, bread exc.... this could be why it increases when you eat pasta. also have you been checked for an ulcer?? they also get agrivated after eating/drinking. but usually it is set off by acidic or spicy foods and also chocolate and alcohol.....

good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you for your response. It is not celica disease, I've already been tested. My doctor thinks the lump I feel is stool. It's always in the same two spots. When I tighten my abs I feel it sink down and when I relax them it pops back up. I have one more test to be done and then they are out of options. They are going to try Pain Management Therapy if they cannot find anything wrong, thinking maybe it's the muscles. To me, and the GI it still seems like it's my gall bladder although all the tests came back normal. My thing is though, when she pushed on my gall bladder the pain got so much worse and it was the worse pain I have ever felt. Why would it do that if it wasn't my gall bladder?

I'm not really into drinking alcohol, I have Restless Leg Syndrom and that makes it sooo much worse when I drink, so I just don't drink now. I thought maybe an ulcer, but wouldn't that show up on a CT scan or endoscopy?

hey kate, its good that its not celiac, as far as an ulcer. on a CT it won't always show up but with endoscopy it should have been detected. did they only inspect your stomach or did they go into your duodenum /pylorus as well? when they push in your galbladder region it doesnt necessaryly mean its your gall bladder that is affected as your pancrease stomach liver and intestins all are in that same region and pushing down any where is going to displace them somewhat. have you been checked for pancriatitis??

Thank you for that. I really don't know what is where inside of me, haha. As for the endoscopy, I think he only checked my esophgaus and my stomach, I can ask him on friday when I go to see him next. I have not been checked for pancriatitis, what is it? I am a big fan of peanut butter and I had a peanut butter sandwich today, that actually made the pain worse, even after taking my pain killer, the pain did not settle. I'm starting to think it's possibly a dairy intolerence. My cousin told me everything to avoid and said after two weeks I should notice a difference if that is it. I'm going to give that a try, it's going to be very hard, since dairy is a large part of my diet, but it's worth it to figure out what is wrong with me.

hey there,

pancreatitis is simply inflamation of your pancrease. pancrea= referring to the pancrease and itis=inflamation. your pancrease is a flat, triangular plank shaped organ (i think it resembles a cod fish fillet) yea i have a weird way of associating things. anyways it plays a very important role in your body regulating/producing insulin for blood sugar regulation, producing digestive enzymes such as trypsinogin and pepsinogin. (both of theses enzymes break down protien such as muscle (meat) and others found in eggs peanut butter ext.

basicaly what happens is that trypsinogin and pepsinogin, the inactive for of the enzyme that breaks down protiens get activated too soon and are turned in to pepsin and trypsin. this isnt suppose to happen until they react with acid in your stomach/small intestin. when they become avtivated in the pancrease they then wreak havok on your pancrease causing pancreaitits. perhaps this is why it is irritated more when you eat peanut butter because your pancrease is producing/ releasing more of thoes enzymes causing it to flare up.

again i'm not saying you have pancreaitits but perhaps its possible and since you asked i gave you the deffiniton.

another though is perhaps the ulcer. you could have a pyloric ulcer (which would have been missed by endoscopy if the doctor did not go into the doudenum. this would also make sense because if you had an ulcer, it exposes the muscle of your intestin to the stomach acid which stars to destroy it as well as pepsin and trypsin which also break down muscle.....

keep me posted and let me know what you think :-)

Signs and symptoms of pancreatitis may vary depending on which type you experience.

Acute pancreatitis signs and symptoms include:

Upper abdominal pain
Abdominal pain that radiates to your back
Abdominal pain that feels worse after eating
Abdominal pain that's somewhat relieved by leaning forward or curling into a ball
Nausea
Vomiting
Tenderness when touching the abdomen
Chronic pancreatitis signs and symptoms include:

Upper abdominal pain
Indigestion
Losing weight without trying
Oily, smelly stools (steatorrhea)
When to see a doctor
Make an appointment with your doctor if you have persistent abdominal pain. Seek immediate medical help if your abdominal pain is so severe that you can't sit still or find a position that makes you more comfortable.

Thank you very much for that. Everything that I have looked up includes all my symptoms, so it's hard to figure out what is causing all the pain and weight loss. I'll update more tomorrow after my GI appointment.

I asked my GI what all he tested for when he order blood work and where all he went when he did the endoscopy. He tested me for pancreaitits, that came back normal. He said he thinks it's Irritable Bowel Syndrome(constipation). So we are testing that theory out. I'm now on a high fiber diet, and he told me something to buy that when I drink it, it will basically clean me out. I did that today, and sure enough, my pain is gone. I had a little pain, but that just felt like I was bloated and it was pressure on my stomach. I'm keeping a journal, sort of, of what I eat, and how much fiber is in it. He didn't tell me how much fiber I should have in my diet daily, so I have to look that up. But so far, everything is going well. I think I finally have an answer after a year of tests and what not. Hopefully, this helps other people too. I thought it was something more serious and was getting worried. Now, I just have to watch what I eat and I'll be fine.

Thank you to everyone for writing to me and helping me out during this.

Hi Kate

So glad you've found some answers to your pain!

And since you asked, we all need 25-35g of fibre every day. Different types of fibre and carbohydrates may have different effects on your bowel wall, so your practice of keeping a diary will help a lot.
