I am really devastated...... I have had diabetes for 3 years and I have been dieting, exercising, taking my oral meds, as my doc suggested. I am not going to lie, but admit to cheating from time to time, but nonetheless, my sugars are not well controlled. My doctor is not impressed with me and am afraid will have consequences on my health. It is so difficult to cope with this disease? Help please.........

It is really hard to think you have to "be on a diet" for the rest of your life.  But the first thing to do is not to think in negative terms as far as eating goes.  You need to focus on the things you can have like strawberries, peaches, any healthy foods that make your mouth water.  You can also alter your favorite recipes by making them more healthy.  You can make pizza out of low-carb pita bread and dessert from diet jello and fruit.  Sugar-free pudding is great as well!  Strive to eat right and continue exercising.  Take your meds as prescribed.  If then your blood sugar is not controlled, you just may have to go on insulin.  Don't feel bad, however, as you are trying your best.
