To "Organics", who replied to "Guest" about how vitamins is phoney over eating organic probiotics is a total loser. How ironic does that sound, that you are condoning someone for eating a man-influenced "adative" to food, whether it be fake bacteria or fake vitamins!!! Get with the program, if your'e really a hippy, don't eat any of that c**p. Eat food. Plain food. Food shouldn't need to be enhanced. !

I may have an answer for those of you that are having issues with dry cracked hand if you're open to listening and taking vitamins/ supplements. There have been studies done which found that certain vitamins are needed and that those that are deficient may experience symtoms that are undiagnosed. My mother and I both have had the same issues and were able to find relief to live comfortable again. I would like to offer you the same if you're willing to try. :-D

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that my mom has suffered with the same cracked bleeding hands that you all describe for over 30 years. Nothing helped and Dr.s were completely stumped (several specialist and no help). Recently she was given super high doses of antibiotics for a kidney injection and she says that for the first time since she developed the problem it has completely disappeared. She has taken antibiotics before, but never a combination of high dose potent antibiotics like this. Maybe these are some kind of viral infection that the doctors don't regularly see. Hope this helps.

My Mother had dry cracking hands for most of her adult life, could not find a cause or cure. She then found out her thyroid was not working correctly. It was not measuring abnormal but was not normal for her body. Got it fixed and her hands have never cracked since, it has been over 20 years and no problems.

I have the same problem, and I can understand pain, that I went through. I want to share my findings and experience with the two creams I just started using.
1 - Lubriderm: Intense Skin Repair - Wal-Mart $4.+ something. another
2 - Curel: Ultra Healthy lotion for cracked skin, Wal-Mart $2.00+ something.
I started using these two tubes one on one hand and another on another to see which one works better. Both worked the same, I will advise every one to try any one of these. So far I am seeing results, in just 4 days.

I hope it works for every one who is suffering what I did.
Please let me and others know if it works.

Thanks
Sohail Rizki

I've had SAME thing everyone on here has, for 2 years now. Kinda hard to cure when you work construction and are constantly getting your hands into everything, in every season. Finally tried one person's recommendation - soak your hands in Hydrogen Peroxide!!! It doesn't completely cure, but works better than any steroid, moisturizer, etc. None of my doctors knew how to control this... "oh just take this steroid forever, oh and stay away from water, that's what you are allergic to..." Really? and it's just my fingers? And I became allergic when I'm 30? Uh-hunh. No one said how long to soak, so I experimented.
(1) Try to wait until your fingers are at their least cracked, the HP can sting big time on open skin. However, if you can stand even a minute or two of sting, the HP does help clear up the cracks faster than waiting around.
(2) Soak both hands in HP for 5-10 min in morning and in evening. **MUST buy brand new HP! Fresher is better, and most of us have the bottle in the cabinet that has been there for a few years... Do NOT reuse solution, I have found it looses the fizzy feeling after first application, so soak in new - good thing this stuff is pretty cheap.
(3) Follow each session by moisturizing with Gold Bond Foot Cream - tripple action relief in blue and red bottle - best I've found, not greesy, makes fingers really soft and soaks in good.
(4) Do all this for at least 2 weeks... stay with it even if it looks like they are clearing up fine.
May try to come back again a month or so later... as soon as your fingers start to get that hard feeling, start regimen again for about a week.
Also helps to occasionally soak/rub hands in Neutrogena T/Gel Shampoo for 5 min.

I did all this 3 months ago and haven't had a problem since! I used to have no relief, even with steroids. It's not 100% gone, I have a day here and there where skin starts to look a little like it may return, all I do is moisturize now with the Gold Bond, and I still haven't had to use the HP treatment. But, it's like 99% gone, better than nothing.

All this makes me think maybe this is some kind of bacterial or fungal problem... try telling that to your doctor, right? Someone on a forum said that their husband was cleared of this completely when he had to take high does antibiotics for an unrelated illness. Sounds a little bacterial, no?
Good luck, everyone, this affliction totally sucks, and it's really nice to see my fingerprints again!

I have had this problem for years. (itching, cracked, bleeding) It started years ago when I got a mixture of chemicals on my hands (cleaning a deli-bakery). Since then, my hands have been extremely sensitive. The only thing that has ever helped is a prescription cream called Betamethasone. Ask about it; you can tell a difference within one day.

I finally found something better that all 1000 creams and lotions I used, the cream called "Herbal Skin Care" from Quam Derma. I bought it at Whole Food for $10.00;

here is link and picture of the cream

I wanted to chime in to agree with a previous post that suggested drinking lots and lots of water. I have extremely dry hands in the winter to the point that they turn red, burn when washed and crack and bleed on the knuckles. However, to avoid this discomfort, all I have to do is drink plenty of water each day. I find that if I go four or five days without drinking enough water, particularly if I replace that water with unhealthy things like soda or beer, my condition comes back quickly.

I'm a male, 5' 9" and 140 pounds soaking wet after eating a pizza LOL. but I suffer the same problem. However, I've been working long hours in the last month or so though (I work in advertising, so sometimes days are 9am - 10pm or later), at my company's building, and incidentally, washing my hands with the soap in the lav there much more than in the past. At the same time, the weather got cold, so its hard to tell if I'm mildly allergic to the soap there, or if its just the cold.

But I went to college in the midwest, just south of Lake Michigan, and survived some brutal winters....with and without gloves, and NEVER experienced this problem before. So thats why I'm hesitant to blame the cold, dry air for it.

My symptoms are: red, leathery hands and fingers; cracks around the knuckles, and even some bleeding between fingers and on the knuckles. m hand is covered in a red "glove" that extends partially down my wrist. Thats another reason I think its the soap, not the cold. M wrists aren't exposed in the cold...but the soap lather does hit that area.

THIS SUCKS!!! My hands are radiating heat as I type....almost like I have sunburn??

first let me say the causes:

reynauds disease
Ischemia
carpal tunnel syndrome
nerve damage
anemia
Genes -- some forms of anemia, such as thalassemia, can be inherited, think i might have that
arteries constricted
blood pressure problem
thyroid problem < do a thyroid blood test of some sort.
mild Chronic fatigue syndrome < only in the hands lol
Circulatory disorder

some things to consider:

Caffeine intake

how many times u wash ur hands per day even with just WATER

sweat gland problem

the amount of water u drink per day

exercize for atleast 30 mins per day to increase blood circulation

the temperature of the room, it should be atleast 22C if its not turn a heater on.

i get cracked hands that bleed from a combination of taking Jacked supplement (60-80mg caffeine per scoop), washing my hands about 10 times per day and being in a cold house all the time while wearing nothing but my boxers! but i also suffer from partial reynauds disease aswell. it comes it patches then heals up and is fine then starts again, IMO dont worry about it! only worry about it if the cuts get infected!, doesnt hurt much at all even when u clench ur fist and rip the small cuts open.

just my 2 cents

In winter, I've had that problem where my knuckles get so dry to the point of bleeding. Washing your hands is really bad for that. Try to avoid washing whenever possible - wear rubber gloves when washing up.

Also, I find that coconut oil or cream works really well. Olive oil or honey works well too. Honey is very soothing on the skin. Dettol is good too but stings a bit.
