This may sound silly... But I've been getting cramps too. Very painful ones. They are just gas

I'm nearly 7 weeks pregnant. I found out on my fifth week. On my fourth week I had mild to moderate period type pains every night so I was just expecting to come on. One night though, I got up to go for a wee and when I got back into bed I was all hot and clammy then I felt sick so went to sit in the bathroom. I began to feel dizzy so I laid on the landing floor as our bathroom is only small and got my partner to raise my legs slightly to get the blood flowing around my body correctly. After a minute or two I felt much better, other than now being freezing and shivering, so we got back into bed and my partner cuddled me to warm me up. He wanted to take me to hospital but I just wanted to sleep. The following week I took a pregnancy test as I was 7 days late and had my pregnancy confirmed by my doctor. Since week 5, the mild cramps have become more moderate to severe, especially between 2 am and 4 am. On a couple of occasions I've taken a paracetamol capsule to take the edge off the pain it was so bad. I get them less frequently during the day and evening and they don't tend to be as bad during those times. I've also been suffering from a bit of constipation, bloating and trapped wind. I think it's all connected. I haven't had any bleeding so reading all the other posts has put my mind at ease. I read somewhere about sleeping with a pillow between your legs and tried it for the first time last night. I only woke up for a wee. A bit of mild aching started when I got back into bed but I put the pillow between my legs and was back asleep in no time. Result!

I forgot to mention that when the cramping begins my back and thighs ache too and that it's better to sleep on your left side as it makes it easier for all the nutrients in your body to get to your baby.

I know this post is old, but I am currently 5 weeks pregnant and severe cramps every single night (and only at night) that are keeping me up all night are driving me insane!! I understand what's causing them, but has anyone found any relief that they can share?? Tylenol ES does nothing for me and my Dr. advised not to use a heating pad. Please help!!

Oh i have been facing this for past 4 years during each and every pregnancy and it is followed by miscarriage. I will be very grateful, if some one can give me the reason for this pain which comes only at nights. It made me feel too scared about pregnancy now.

Hiya, when I had these kind of pains during the night when I was 5 weeks pregnant it turned out to be a kidney infection and had to stay in hospital for a week and taking antibiotic almost throughout my whole pregnancy because they said if it comes back again there won't be any antibiotic that would work and my baby would be in danger. (Stopped antibiotics around 32nd weeks.) Now I'm here rocking my 7 month old little Princess to sleep.
Hope it's not anything serious for you!!

Thank you for the update. I'm a 35 year old FTM with the cramping that's worse at night and I'm trying to stay positive that it's not a sign of miscarriage as I don't have any blood. Congrats on your little baby boy!

I have been experiencing the exact same thing. I am 5 weeks pregnant and for the last 5 nights, I have waken up around 3 a.m. with excruciating cramps, way worse than menstrual cramps!!!! Last night they actually brought me to tears, they were so painful. I see my doctor tomorrow, but I'm grateful to see that it's not just me and I'm hoping all is well. I hope this stops soon though, because it's miserable!

May God bless you and fill your pain with joy. Please keep us posted on this, this might clarify many of our unresolved doubts

Hi, I see this post was over a year ago but I'm hoping you have gotten some answers to what it was. I'm 8.5 weeks and the cramping is so bad at night I feel like I want to rip my ovaries out. Did everything turn out good for you and baby?

I had it during all my pregnancies. and final report will be no heart beat seen which will happen in 6 weeks. mine had chromosomal abnormality. You have already crossed 8.5 weeks so don't worry every thing will work out well. My only doubt is do we get this pain if the fetus has some abnormality and our body immune system is trying to push it out?

Hi ladies,
I am about 5 weeks pregnant and I have been getting the same thing (severe cramps) at least twice during the night. I have a history of IBD and my menstrual cramps used to be severe too. Has anyone had these cramps during pregnancy and everything turn out fine? Im really seeking some reassurance here. Thanks!
