I seem to have a similar problem as everyone else here. Around 3 or 4 weeks ago I noticed I was bleeding around my anus, but it wasn't my anus that was bleeding, it was a small cut on my tailbone. I didn't know where it came from but I assumed it would heal on its own(like all cuts do). But that wasn't the case. I still have this problem and it does heal and develop a scab but it just keeps opening. It seems to have gotten a bit bigger. I am concerned at this point and schedualed an appointment with my doctor. I recommend anyone else with this issue to do the same.

No offense, but are the two of you heavier set? I'm a cna and it's common to get a slit like opening in the coccyx area. Common reasons are moisture and the fact that there is less elasticity in the skin in that area causes it to tear when stretched and the moisture doesn't allow healing. (Wearing things is not a good idea if there is breakdown on the coccyx) Keep the area dry. Apply a barrier cream heavily to the broken down area often. (any zinc oxide cream (diaper rash cream) su check as desitin or a + D) never rub the area with a cloth wipe or to. Always pat to clean and pat to dry. It will take awhile to heal, but just keep it dry and creamed.

Gently clean area and dry. Apply a medicated antifungal powder like Ammen's medicated powder. Clears it right up

I'm a 27 year old male, 5'9 & 160lbs. My rear is slightly "plump" as my girlfriend says. I'm not overweight nor heavy.
I developed this problem last year after starting a new job in the summer, it was incredibly itchy & painful, hurt to wipe and bled when I wiped.
I'm very clean and wipe a lot, too much. People complain about me using all their toilet paper.
It would come and go, after being gone for a while if I ended up getting diarrhea it would come back, heat & sweat would also make it come back.
It looks like a red line, like a cut but without broken skin. Painful to the touch and itchy as hell.
Come to find out it's a fungal infection. My excessive wiping tears the skin, the size of my rear end covers it and the heat of the job provides moisture. My doctor gave me steroid & antifungal cream. It stops hurting/itching about 5 seconds after applying & goes away in just a few days entirely.
The RX was "Clotrimazole & Betamethasone Dipropionate", it's a cream.

I have had this problem for years, skin fissures between buttock. And, what I discovered is, every time I ate foods high in acid (vinegar, salsa, ketchup, salad dressing etc.), this fissure occurred. the doctor said, "oh, you seem to have a problem with acid". Then one day I said, "Hmm, what if I eat an antacid such as Tums before eating these foods." Problem solved! That is, as long as I remember to take these and am aware of what is in the food I am eating. The dermatologist gave me several creams to treat this when it occurs and that helps but to prevent it from happening I need to watch what I eat. I hope this helps others in the same boat.

You may have a pocket if infection that has accumulated due to the tear and any bacterial substance that may have collected. I would see a doctor as soon as possible.

I've had this problem twice. Most recently I was able to cure it by applying Clotrimazole cream to the affected area 2-3 times per day. This anti-fungal cream is intended for Athlete's Foot and is found in the part of the pharmacy that sells foot related products like shoe inserts and creams. It was healed completely around day 4. When the itching and burning was severe, I was able to sooth the area by using Vagisil Anti-Itch Medicated wipes on the area (found in the women products section of the store, tampons and such). Other anti-itch products might help as well, but this is what I used. Good luck!

Intertrigo is a rash that usually affects the folds of the skin, where the skin rubs together or where it is often moist. The rash is caused by fungus or bacteria.
Intertrigo is most common in people who are overweight or who have diabetes. People who have splints, braces, or artificial limbs are also more likely to develop this rash.
Symptoms of intertrigo
Symptoms of intertrigo include a red or reddish-brown rash that can appear anywhere skin rubs together or traps wetness. This rash may burn or itch. The most common areas include:
between toes
in the armpits
in the groin area
on the underside of the belly or breasts
in the crease of the neck.
Intertrigo can also affect the skin between the buttocks. The affected skin will often be very raw and may itch or ooze. In severe cases, intertrigo may cause a foul odor, and the skin may crack and bleed.
What causes intertrigo?
Skin folds sitting together and rubbing together causes intertrigo. This skin-on-skin friction creates a warm, moist environment. This environment invites an overgrowth of yeast, fungus, and bacteria. Intertrigo is not contagious. You cannot catch it from or pass it to another person.
How is intertrigo diagnosed?
The best way to know for sure is to ask your doctor. Your doctor will be able to tell if you have intertrigo by looking at your rash. No special tests are needed.
