I have this same problem, I went to the doctors and they said it is not a cyst because I have no bump, that the split could be a form of psoriasis (a skin disorder). She told me to wash it gently with water, air dry, use a topical ointment- triyocinclone(sp) then cover it with gauze until it heals.

If there is a bump present or if a bruise does appear you need to see a doctor because it most likely is a polydinal cyst, my boyfriend had one that was left undiagnosed for two years. He had to have surgery done and spent over a year with an eight inch hole in his back/butt. The cyst was the size of a softball and was caused from an ingrown hair. He now has to make sure hair is never present in that area. They said that the spine isn't closed all the way at the bottom creating a little hole that bacteria and such things and collect in, that is why it is very common for cyst to develop there.

I was reading other stories of splits in the butt crack area and people suggested to used Caldense medicated powder after washing and patting dry the area and people agreed that this worked, others said it could be linked to kidney function from eating too much red meat or sugar in the same day overloading the enzymes in the kidneys forcing them to release urine into the lower body which then finds a weak spot to excrete from which could be the butt crack area. This was from a Natural cure book.

Hope this was useful to someone :-)

It seems to heal by itself pretty easy it just keeps coming back, if anyone figures out how to stop it from coming back, let me know.

It could be a stage 2 pressure ulcer on your coccyx. See a Dr. if it gets any further you may need surgery, and can be fatal.

When i wipe it bleeds. For the problem of the cut in the area where poop excretes the body there are several things one should do to prevent infection:

-You need to clean the affected area 1-3 times daily or whenever you poop to prevent the bacteria from sitting there and becoming infected. You should use water. Hopefully it will heal within 2-5 days.

-Avoid eating a high protein diet which would allow for "big ones" to come out because this stretch could re-open the scab that forms.

I am not a medical professional just a college student, but this worked for me.

Also avoid wiping to hard and eaither clean the anus with water or wet TP and wipe.

When an opening happens and it re-heals the skin is never as strong, therefore any sudden jerks or anything could eaisly re-open the cut. There is no solution to this in my knowledge.

Hi everyone .
You need to go to a doctor. My doctor said to me that it was a abscess that had popped without inscision, I am prone to abscesses so it may not be the same for you but check it out anyway , because abscesses are incredibly painful , especially when they are surgically removed, the recovery is excruciating . Please get your cuts checked out as soon as possible as if you leave it to long it will hurt .
Kthanksbye .

I have had it for 2 years now I cant remember but it happened when i feel skateboarding and i guess it never went away, And just today I noticed in my tail bone area that it was somewhat bumpy and i pressed it in and blood came out from the cut. I was shocked!. I am going to the doctor tomorrow because i am a little worried now. Hopefully it isnt to serious. I also thought i was the only person with this.

Hi,
I used to have the same problem and it really hurts, I noticed it happened mainly during the summer and winter time when I would get sweaty or my skin was excessively dry. What I found that really helped me out and hasnt come back (and dont laugh) Dove soap. The white one. That whole thing of moisturizing your skin totally true!! Who knew right???? Well every time you take a shower if you rub the soap on the area that you get the cut or slip on it really helps. Once I figured it out it was such a relief.
Good luck!
P.S. no dove has not paid me to do this...

I'm 63 and have had this periodic appearance of a crack on my tail bone for as long as I can remember. I recently had a conversation with a friend who is dealing with an infection in his nervous system. He mentioned that during the treatment of this infection that the "crack" site would sometimes drain enough to soak his under wear over night. We didn't go into any technical details, but I took away from the conversation that infections in our nervous systems or in the area of our back bone, drain fluids that are generated as part of the healing process. While keeping the area clean and supple is a good Idea in any case, the "crack" is a symptom of an internal healing event in progress. The odor of the fluid present when I have a "crack" is a bit like that of a wound. Sometimes healthy and healing sometimes a bit infected. These ideas are from my own experiences, I'm no expert, but the explanation seems to make sense.

I had something like that before, I used tea tree oil. its good because it keeps it moist enough that its not dried out, but dries it enough to heal it. It healed up in a few days, and tea tree oil is also an anti-fungal antiseptic, so it will prevent infection.
I hope it helps you all!

When I work out the area cracks for me as well.  I usually put  petroleum jelly. on the area or even desitine. It will heal quickly.
Hope this helps!

would rubbing alcohol or peroxide work?  i'm literally open for any suggestions.  I also researched and found out that an infection could be the reason why it opens back up

I live in UK and I find problem is worse when warm. I get this a lot and my tail bone is so so sore. I too have searched high and low. I have found a thorough wash and pat dry and apply cream that is meant for thrush. When the symptoms go away apply a tiny bit of baby talc after showering etc.

I had the same problem I googled it and came with and answer. Apparently its created when you don't try enough down their. Then I was told to make it go away just put some baby powder on it. It was in like two days of just using baby powder before I went to bed.  Now If it comes up again I just use baby powder and it goes away.
