Got a cut in fold of groin. Foul smell, sometimes wet, sometimes bleeds. Waited to see if it would heal but it didnt after a week or 2. Dont know where it came from. Its a circular wound and i noticed balled up skin around the area. Gonna get it checked soon but just wondering what it might be.
It sounds like it might be a bad case of jock itch in the natural crease of the skin in your groin area. You can try some over the counter jock itch cream or lotions to kill off the yeast infection that causes most jock itch. The cause of most jock itch is usually wearing sweaty underwear or jocks that need to be cleaned and washed more often to kill off bacteria growing in the sweaty cloths. Showering frequently and washing and changing your jock straps and underwear helps avoid jock itch. Males with athlete's foot on their feet can transfer that to their groins when pulling on jocks and underwear that touch the athlete's foot fungus and then ride on the underwear or jocks up to your groin and lay against the groin skin to infect your groin. Some guys need to kill off both athlete's foot and jock itch at the same time to clear both up and avoid re-infecting their feet and groins if one site stays infected.
most over the counter jock itch medications take about two weeks of twice daily smearing the jock itch medicine on the infected groin areas to kill off the jock itch. Its painless medicine and doesn't smell or stain clothes. Other people won't even know you have it on your groin. Lots of boys and men get jock itch and most treat it themselves with over the counter medicines you can find in any drug store or big box store.
The bleeding is a severe infection and might need a dr. to check it out if you don't want to try waiting the two weeks for jock itch medicines to work. It could be a ring worm infection which causes circular rashes. Ring worm needs special medicines to kill it. Jock itch is more like a random pattern than a circle.
An antibiotic cream like Neosporin or similar generic types of cut infection treatments and covering the wound with some band aids (shave the injured area or be ready to pull out some of your hairy groin hairs when the band aids need to be changed daily when you shower) to keep it from spreading all around your groin area might help cure this also. These are do it yourself ideas for you if its tough to get to a dr. to get this checked and cured.
