Cynthia Nixon, better known as Miranda in HBO's "Sex and the City", has decided to go public with her own battle with breast cancer. Two years ago she underwent lumpectomy and had and a half weeks of radiation after the surgery.
Being a daughter of a breast cancer survivor, Nixon was aware of her personal risks, which only made her stronger and empowered to face her own diagnosis, she said.
This 42-year-old actress has joined forces with the breast cancer organization Susan G. Komen for the Cure to educate the 1.1 million women around the globe who face a diagnosis each year.
Cynthia will be an ambassador for the organization and will share her cancer experiences in a series of Web videos.
When asked why she didn’t go public with her disease before, she said she didn't want paparazzi at the hospital and this is why she kept quiet while she was going through the disease and the treatment.
