Had a cyst recenlty in my arm pit which was swollen. It was painful.
This is what I did:
Went to doctor and she prescribed the antibiotic (Clindamycin). Had over the counter ibuprofen evry 8 hours.
For faster recovery, I cleansed the area with hydrogen peroxide. Sprinkled some turmeric powder into a damp cotton swab (dampened with hydrogen peroxide) and placed it on the cyst and stuck a bandaid over it at and left it overnight. Cleaned the area again in the morning and did the same process again. Good idea to remove the bandaid while at shower . Had a hard time removing with all the hair stuck on it. The cyst broke on the second night. The pus was cleaned by applying pressure on the side. It is worth taking a little pain to remove all the pus and I felt so much relief. Now it is healed. Still taking the antibiotics to complete the course. Hope this helps.

My Cyst that is in my armpit is a nickel sized, slightly red bump that has a whit pimple head on it. The first time it occured it looked exactly the same and i put a little pressure on it and it hurt a little but it drain with a little more pressure. After that I put some Neosporin on it and didnt hear of it again...until the other day i realized it was back ( this being about a year or so later).. I haven't been to the doctor b/c is didn't seem like a big problem. My thoughts were either, A- It is an infected ingrown hair that is in a spot that is prone to being dirty and that caused the inflamation or maybe I have a bad reaction to my anti-persperant and it is clogging up my pores and that caused it...what are ya'lls thoughts?

Antibiotics don't have a very good reputation amongst us HS sufferers as they seem to do nothing for this condition. As a sufferer myself my advice would be to educate yourself as much as possible on this condition in an attempt to see what does and does not work for you as with this disease it appears that different things work for different people. For example I read othat turmeric can be extremely effective but it did nothing for me. However I also read on that site that tea tree oil can work so I tried that and sure enough it works wonders for me, I use it all the time, soaking in it in my bath water or applying like a compress etc.
This disease really is all about trial and error and eventually you will find something that eases the pain and discomfort and reduces outbreaks.

Hi, over 10 years ago i wrote on this thread about cysts (i think i started it!). I wanted to share that after many many visits to the doctor i was diagnosed with hydraadenitis supurtiva by a dermatologist. It is now in remission after starting treatment about 5 years ago with various medication. All the best to everyone who has shared their stories. X
