It is true that there are many possible side effects of accutain, most terrible and some permanent. However, the GRAND MAJORITY OF THESE ARE EXTREMELY UNLIKELY. The unfortunate people who have replied to your post are VERY unlucky to have experienced such ailments as the ones listed below, but these are extremely rare cases. The only side effects that are common are dryness of the skin and lips, sensitivity to sunlight, and pinkness of the skin around the infected area. I am not a doctor, but i am about to go on a 3 month run of 40 mg a day, and have asked many different specialists what they thought about the rare side effects. most of them said that they had either seen one or two cases (in 15-30 years of service), or never seen a case at all. i suggest that you research this yourself as well. Don't google it, you'll just end up with horror stories. instead, ask your doctor, your friend's doctors, anyone you can find who has a specialty dealing with a specific side effect that worries you (such as depression). Once you feel safe taking it, go ahead. I hope this post was helpful in your decision, and good luck! i'm sure it will go fine, and you'll look absolutely great by the end. btw i start my first dose right after i finnish typing ;) bye!
Well, I took accutane at 13. 4 month treatment
The problems on included, cracked lips, dry skin, super tiredness, depression, huge mood swings, and rectal bleeding here and there.
Also, super horrible, extra large pizza face, supreme.
Pros: No acne, at all, now its maybe once a month ill get one, but it lasts for a while cause my skin is really really white.
Average creams work so much better after the treatment though. They didn't work before.
Cons: Horrible life for a year, literally takes a year to get it all out.
Went crazy, got depressed
Super Enraged mood swings....
WORST OF ALL. A permanent Recal Bleeding EVERY SINGLE BM
Its started out only here and there, and got to every single time I poop now. Really screwed me up.
Doctor won't do sh*t about it either.
Overall, I would still take it, because my acne was so severe. I now have a hot girlfriend, and we first dated before I had the horrible acne, in the 6th grade. I went to a different school, and she went there two years after, when my acne covered who I was.
Just last April I re-met her in the 12th grade, senior year. She had been looking how to get my number, but I always had hers saved and texted her shyly to a great response.
She came over and we ended up in a sexual embrace I've always dreamed of. Now 6 months into a real deal relationship and I love anal and kinky sh*t. Lifes good you know.
Still suffer from rectal bleedings, shes scared of it, but it doesnt effect me much really.
Take the drug if you have really bad uncurable acne. Otherwise, DO NOT.
Use coconut oil. It's AMAZING My son uses it after accutane 10 years ago. Extremely helpful and nutritious.
Your recommendation to "spit in their face" just shows your inability to control your emotions. That's disgusting. Even if Accutane did cause you to have psychological disturbances, perhaps it would be in your best to be evaluated by a psychiatrist.
I took 4 rounds of Accutane, ending in my early 20s. I am 34 now and have had knee pain for 12 years, it began shortly after the last cycle of Accutane. I can't run, it's hard to climb stairs, and each ortho doc I've seen can't find any problems, neither can two different physical therapists. I'm considering an arthroscopy on my knee so the docs can actually see inside, since all other exams are "normal". I feel like my knees are 80 years old. Decreased activity level due to the pain. Very frustrating. I wish I could go back in the past and NEVER have taken it.
They have proved depression and suicide. It took a Senators son taking his life while on Accutane to finally get warning labels on all of their medication not just new ones.
I personally would reccommend against it, i took it at 17 and although it cleared up my Acne i suffered long afterwards and there is no guarantee your Acne won't come back.
I got the usual side effects of dry skin, cracked lips, red flush etc but be evry wary of the mental issues it can cause, i suffered Anxiety quite badly and it's taken time to get control of that. Although it would be hard to prove the direct link i strongly believe it to be the cause and you only have to read online those that have taken stating similar.
If i could of known this back then (late 90's) i would of just ridden out the Acne phase.
how much were you taking?
THis is nothing compared to the sexual dysfunction, impotence, caused by accutane. Please if you have any information PM me
