i have a problem similar to that, but am not sure what to think.
Diabetes is common in the family and i've had these brownish marks like...forever...
In that area, the skin is normal, as soft as the rest of the leg but the pigmentation seems to be just under the surface of skin...like a birth mark. It doesnt hurt and never hardens the skin, but i have noticed that the size of the mark changes sometimes and it can even get a little darker.
It looks like its caused by either undergarment rubbing or skin contact, but i dont know. I've never seen a doc, i feel toooooooo uncomfortable for that until now, but i've tried a few creams and special care ( like wearing undergarments preventing friction to the skin) nothing worked.
Its been years now that i have to think twice before buying a swim suit, before undressing in front of a boyfriend... well, it really sucks!!!!

please help. I badly need to free myself of that!

:-( I hope that for you young gals out there this will be of some comfort. Iam 49. I have had dark skin in the back area and in my inner thights since I was very young. I still do. This is very uncomforable when you begin a relationship, but if the person loves you, it will not matter. If the person is in it for some quick sex, then they wont even care what it looks like. Anyway, I once asked a doctor about how to get rid of it. He told me that it would be nearly impossible. He told me it was caused by a fungus that grows inside of the vagina. He said that no matter how much you treat it on the outside, if a small part the size of a pinhead remained, it would flourish{spread} again. So I gave up on it. I will tell you this, I used to get lots of yeast infections and was treated with Monistat Vaginal Cream. After a few treatments, I noticed that my skin had cleared up a lot. But after sometime, the skin got dark again. The cream is very expensive, and although I tried to see if it would work again, I did not get the same results. I feel horrible when Iam going to begin a relationship, but then it doesn'"t bother me as much. I remembered feeling so embarrassed about this problem. I thought that I was the only person in the world with this problem, but one day I saw a really white lady at the beach with the same dark spots on her inner thights. I feel bad for her, but it made me feel better. You see Iam hispanic and my skin is brown, so I have dark skin on my inner thighs. I don'"t wear shorts nor bikinis, but for you gals that do, keep looking for a good remedy. If you find it, post it for those fo us who still want to get our bodies to look normal.

This for all purposes should summarize all of what you need to do to rid darkening of the skin around your thighs, armpits, and neck. Obesity is the DIRECT cause of this symptom of Diabetes. Discoloration can be treated through three methods. First and foremost, Diet. Ditch the $1.00 sweet tea from mcdonalds and grab a vitamin water or flavored water from your discount grocer. Water is the single most important factor. Not the oils and lotions and talc powder though vital to skin PROTECTION water alone is the prime catalyst of new tissue growth. Try this little experiment to prove it. Drink only your favorite sugar drink and ingest NO straight water. when you clean at NIGHT before bed as you should do your typical scrub a dub with your exfoilating cream. In 2 weeks you will notice.....a rash; and discoloration will persist. then for the next to weeks drink ONLY water and when you bathe, bathe at night and in two weeks your skin will be lighter. you will also have soaring energy levels (h20 is to fat what oxygen is to fire). So 1. drink water 2. shower at night. 3 exfoilate 4. lotion or powder.
p.s. enjoy not having type two diabetes either.

This is very much effecting our sex life as now I am very self concious. Could it be related to my ezcema?/ dry skin? being over weight? I feel so embarraced I0ve let it get this far!

Hell-o. I will just introduce myself to you as "TEENNEVES". I hate seeing my dark groin whenever I am taking a bath. I always use to rub it with "DOVE SOAP" but it seems that nothing changes. As to the fellow, dark groin is caused by the friction of the skins. It becomes worse when we are walking slowly. And I seem to be 53 kilos and I am just fourteen. I think I am overweight, but not really. From now on I am trying to lose weight by exercising every morning and a diet of after six. And I will wait if the treatment is effective. My suggestion for you to prevent that annoying groin is to take a diet, wear clothes that will block the attraction of the thighs and lather it with soap everytime you take a bath.

This was really great information! I kept noticing little brown spots, a bit bigger than freckles, appearing more frequently. I think there's been a new one every 4-5 months now, as well as the skin getting darker there and under my arms. I was about to change deodorants again, and didn't think it could possibly be anything serious, as I am very healthy and have been seeing a very comprehensive doctor lately. Thank you so much for this post.

I have the same problem, I have polysistic ovarian syndrome. & my hormones are all messed up I take metformin & spironolactone for my hormones to go back to normal. It's probably from that. You should go see a specialist about it & get tested. I'm also a pre-diabetic.

Darkening in the groin area is normal. As long as it is not too dark, browning skin is normal.

I had the same problem and went to the dermatologist, they gave me this medicine, calmoseptine, and it went away. All you do is rub! The only thing i didn't like about it was its like a solid lotion, and you have to scrub really hard with soap to get it off your hands. Just put it on every night and it really works!

I'm JC. I'm 17 and for the last 3 years i have noticed the same thing. I'm a bigger girl as well, but it got so bad that I couldn't let my boyfriend touch me without feeling self conscious about it. I also noticed the same thing under my arms. So I started working out twice a day, and I've always eaten right. I've lost quite a bit of weight but I still see these spots. I clean myself twice a day. Two showers a day. Idk. I think my life would be quite a bit better if I wasn't afraid to wear shorts around people.

That's awful. Your parents need to take care of you. You should compile
research and then show your parents. If you feel that there might be a
problem,
research, prove to them that you are worried, let them know
that if you are pre-diabetic and you do not take care of it, you can
have it for the rest of your life. That is no life to live. Take care of
your self, lose weight. It is so important to stay active and eat
healthy, you will feel better both physically and mentally! :-D
