Hello. I'm not sure if anyone still checks this site but holy mother of god. I had two bands put on LAST MONDAY and I am still in severe pain. Like there's glass and razors up me arse. My doctor said it wouldn't hurt and to take ibuprofen and Tylenol which did absolutely nothing. I wound up in the ER tuesday morning due to pain. They gave me norco which helps but of course made me constipared. I haven't had s BM since last Monday morning. In all honestly, I didn't even eat the first four days because of the pain. I'm on a high fiber diet now and am taking stool softeners and Metamucil. Anyone else have pain this long and go without a BM this long?

The sitz bath is so very important in the healing process- please figure out some way to do this- the warm water really helps

I had banding done today as well as a colposcopy and EGD. Not a good day to say the least. Lots of period like pain in lower abdomen. Feels like I need to have a bowel movement and my left leg has a nerve feeling pain all the way to my foot every now and then. I see a lot of people asking why they don't send home with pain meds. Most pain meds cause constipation so they encourage people to use Tylenol instead.

I am so sorry for you and all of the
others who have written in. I had two
done after having four done three years ago. The first time around
was bad but I made it through. This
has been like pure hell. I have prayed
for death between the horrible constant pain and pressure then a BM. I screamed so loud I placed a wash cloth over my mouth. It sounds
terrible but to complete the process
and withstand the pain if you get
On the floor in a yoga type ( ok doggie like) you will be able to get
Through it and minimize pain. It's been a week today for me.

I am so sorry to hear this. Ive actually had 6 bandings done. 3 were no problem at all but the other 3 were horrible and after the last one I said never again. The bad thing is once all the pain was gone I was glad I had had it done though because the constant level 2 pain in my bum was gone.

I had my last one done on a Friday and the weekend was HELL for sure and went back to DR on Monday and he checked me out but was like, oh sorry, but did not do anything to help.

It will get better! Hang in there.

Just had 3 internal ones banded. My 1st bm movement was tonight, at 48hrs out & it's excruciating. I didn't want to resist the urge, so I tried & noticed I need help. Took an anal suppository, Dulcolax, for constipation. Usually they've helped before. Went to have another bm & it made me violently push :( so, I then took 3 stool softeners. This entire time, I was drinking fiber & water. Still have yet to have a pain free, solid, bm. Been sick for exactly 2hrs/30m now. My abdomen is sore. I'm cramping a lot. Pretty much miserable.

I am so sorry to hear this. My doctor won't do more than one banding at a time.
There is a cream a doctor rx for me that helps. You have to get it at a self mixing pharmacy. It has aloe in it and something to help those veins relax and a pain killer. If you google it it will say it's rx for anal fissures. I will find the name and send it to you but maybe if you call your dr they will go ahead and rx it for you.
Hang in there. It will get better.

I had really bad discomfort and pain. The first 24 hours were rough. The only thing that really help was over the counter cream with the max Lidocaine I could find. Seems like the stuff they prescribe should be better? Nope. I took Ibuprofen and pain killers and was still in rough shape until I used the cream. I would try that if your desperate. I found 5% Lidocane and used it very liberally.

Hi everyone: have had many rubber band litigations done. Some went very easily and some were extremely painful, including no bm's. The things I was told by my doctor to look out for is 1.Fever 2. Extreme pain 3. If I am unable to pee. I was told this could be I have an infection I should go to the emergency department. During the painful ones I used ice packs( every hour), sitz baths(2 or 3 times a day). Do not do work that involves you straining the band's can fall off. My surgeon told me they choose banding because it is about 80% effective if Banding doesn't work they will move to surgery called a Hemorrhoidectomy which is apparently extremely painful. Hope this helps!

I had this done yesterday, was told it wasnt painful and i would be able to drive and continue normal routine, as soon as it was done, I didnt google like i usually do, went with what the he told me.

The procedure itself although uncomfortable wasnt too bad, the pain i experienced in the evening, i can only describe as the later stages of labour, i was being sick, rolling around on the bathroom floor, tried painkillers, a hot water bottle, and sat in the shower at 1am with the hot water on my belly. Im not soft wjen it comes to pain, i gave birth to both my girls without even a sniff of gas n air, but this was hurrendous, managed to fall asleep anout 3am, through pure exhaustion, having not slept the night before, because of the prep medicine they gave me, was awake again 6am and now it 4pm and its settled but now feels like braxton hicks. Never again would i have this procedure, barbaric.

Well, my banding was an awful experience. Terrible pain for weeks. Only recently I found out that I have fissures, ones that need surgery so I told them hell now as there is a risk of losing the ability to control bowel movements.
