Hi forum people.
Before you continue to read I want to say I offer perhaps some hope or help for those who are suffering from the green light laser surgery so please read to the bottom.
I had the green light laser surgery on 9/28 and it was straight up hell for almost 2 months afterwords.
I hate doctors - seems to me they are never straight with you on complications and side effects.
Had I known how much pain I would be in I would have done the Erurolift
After surgery I was going to the bathroom more times than before the surgery, afraid to drink anything because I was in so much pain, I would literally shake from the pain and sometimes it would take me 30 mins before the pain and discomfort and the “coming down from the adrenaline” to ware off - I am not exaggerating.
In all fairness to doctors - often “hard” Rx meds to control pain don’t work on me. This is my experience from other surgeries.
So I was almost 60 days into recovery and pray to God that this would stop, not sure how much more I could take. Docs gave me other meds to help the pain and had me on Azo - nothing was helping.
One weekend I am laying on my side and my lower back and hip was hurting, not from the surgery just arthritis kind of pain. So I took an anti inflammatory that helps called Diclofenac aka Voltaren.
With in two hours my pain had started to subside, I mean I went from a 11-12 on a 10 point scale down to a 4
As the night went on the pain was down to a 2 and I had the first more or less pain free night in two months!
The next morning I asked myself what changed? Was it the prayer? Maybe, but likely it was the Diclofenac, so I did not take it again, and yea the pain started to increase, not as strong but still the longer I went without the med, the stronger the pain got. So I took another and within a couple of hours the pain was gone - mostly.
That was 3 weeks ago and I can tell you that if I go too long without the meds, around 24-30 hours I start to have a minor burnishing sensation.
Now from what I have read is Diclofenac has a short half-life and is out of your system in 15 hours.
So I stumbled on to this. This would be an off label use, so you will have to do some explaining to your doctor.
Perhaps show the doctor this post.
Good luck and I hope this brings you some relief.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'm trying to weigh my options. My doctor informed me about the retrograde ejaculation. When you say your sex life is over, does this procedure give the patient erectile dysfunction? My doctor says the orgasms intensity is the same without the semen. Is this a true statement from your experience? I'm 55 yr old.

green light treatment doesn't last . i've had 2 turps already about 3 years apart for enlrged prosttate, bladder stones, blood and clots in urine., the stones bleeding and clots come back and prostate gets enlarged again. dr's don't tell you your sex life is ended, very difficult to get erection if at all. got ed. hard to ejaculate if at all during sex. now i need a 3rd green light procedure. don't know what better alternatives are., but if you want to have no sexual problems, don't do it if you are under 70 yrs.

I had the green light surgery done in December '21.
Now I go to the bathroom no more than 5 times a day and 2 times at night and most important, I can drink as much water as I want.
I am 56, my sexual life is still very active even if I don't ejaculate anymore, I still have erections and orgasms.
The green light surgery is by far the best decision I ever done.

I had greenlight laser therapy in January 23 for an enlarged prostate and, due to being unable to pee at all, had various catheters fitted for around 3 months before the op. The op was straightforward and I spent 2 nights in hospital before going home. No pain at all, some blood in urine for around 1 week then everything settled down. Urinary flow like a "fire hose" and maybe only getting up once at night for a pee. 5 months later and everything back to normal - best decision I ever made to proceed with green light.

What does he even mean, when he says, " the way he does the procedure the retro thing is 100% guaranteed"? What are the other way(s)?

I’m over 2 weeks from green light surgery. Still have serious pain. Sitting is a problem, only laying down shows relief. When standing or walking I have urgent need to pee every 2-3 mins. Leaking is a massive problem. Cannot go back to work because of the constant leaking. No erection option at this point. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO MY WORST ENEMY.

I just had the green light procedure for a severely enlarged prostate. Best thing I ever did! Retrograde ejaculation, whatever. Less of a mess.
