Hi, folks. My friend has been recently diagnosed with blepharospasm. He is afraid this might get complicated with eyelid apraxia. I would like to know if blepharospasm always leads to apraxia of eyelids or not. Can anyone tell me something more about this? I would appreciate it. Thank you for answering.
Hi, there. Blepharospasm is abnormal tick or spasm of an eyelid. Eyelid apraxia is a condition where a person cannot open eyelids. These eyelids are normal. Eyelid apraxia is often associated with blepharospasm. It rarely goes separately. However, not all blepharospasms lead to eyelid apraxia. I think that one third gets complicated with apraxia. Your friend should consult with his ophthalmologist about the details. Bye!
