Hello, guys. My wife is diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. I know that having kids is her long time wish. I would like to know if MS affects pregnancy and breastfeeding. I would really appreciate if someone could tell me something more about this. I hope someone will answer. Thank you in advance.

Hi, there. I don’t know what stage of the disease your wife is. However, today the picture is much better. In past, women were advised not to conceive. Nowadays, it is different. There is no evidence that MS can cause some pregnancy complications. It goes the other way around. Pregnancy won’t worsen MS symptoms. In fact, many women report that they feel relief while pregnant. I hope this helps.

Hello to you too. I have also heard about this. There is no evidence that MS affects pregnancy. However, I advise you and your wife to think well about this. Kids are a great obligation. You need to take care of them. The question is if your wife will be able to do that since she is ill. The same goes for you. You have to take care of your wife; will you be able to take care of a kid as well? Think well!

Hi, guys. I agree that you should consider this issue well. If we think just of mother’s health, there shouldn’t be problems. Many women experience remission during pregnancy. In first three months after baby is born symptoms may appear. Some women experience the insufficiency of milk, although it is not directly caused by MS. Sometimes these women give birth prematurely. I hope everything will be all right. Good luck with all! Bye!
